Was it difficult to get?

What evidence or commentary did you provide?

This is making it sound a bit rarefied;

British citizens who hold warranted titles or are known more commonly by their stage or professional name may use both names. An observation may be included in their passport. An example of this is when members of the House of Lords use both their titled names and their given names.

I have an observation like this on my passport, I didn’t knowingly apply for it, it seemed to just appear when I renewed it. Just says “Is also known as.. “

OhNoGroken · 08/07/2021 00:18

I’m not famous or particularly special

How weird. When you changed your name? Sounds like they aren’t all that precious about it, then, if they’re handing them out unsolicited.

Do you need two names because of your work, Ricki? Grin

RickiTarr · 08/07/2021 01:02

I’m not trying to have “Ricky Tarr” put in there, if that’s what you mean. Smile

Can’t even spell it. Confused

You're starting to remind me of his passport tricks in the book now Grin

RickiTarr · 08/07/2021 10:29

Don’t make me reread them yet again @Frownette Smile

Bumping for you, as there must be someone on here that uses two names!

RickiTarr · 09/07/2021 12:02

Thanks. It was on here that I first read about it, so hoping to dredge a couple of those people up, yes. Smile

Nobody at all? Shock

They’ve all taken their passports and buggered off to Portugal. Smile

I have a note added that I am still known by my maiden name for professional purposes so I can use it for ID for DBS checks etc

RickiTarr · 09/07/2021 19:37

Fabulous! You’re who I need to ask then. Was it easy to get? Did you just attach a letter and a marriage certificate?

RickiTarr · 10/07/2021 14:32

Any more for any more?

Findahouse21 · 10/07/2021 19:32

When I applied for my passport in my married name, I sent my marriage certificate with the application but in the notes I asked for the sentence to be added, and they added it exactly as I had requested

StoneColdBitch · 11/07/2021 08:46

I'm a doctor. My passport has a note in saying "The holder is known as Dr Firstname Maidenname for professional purposes". Think I sent off my GMC certificate.
