as a teen myself in 2021, i love early 2000’s emo/sceneish fashion, music etc. i’d love to know what it was actually being a teen in this time? (bonus if you were emo/punk/goth etc!) Smile

I didn’t really think of the early 2000’s as a particular era, unlike the 80s or 90s, but I suppose it was. It still seems really recent to me, but I suppose that’s due to my age!
In 2000 I did my GCSE’s and was 16/17 that year.
2001 was a pretty memorable year for me , not just because of the tragic events of 911.
I remember like it was yesterday and honestly can’t believe where 20 years has gone.
I remember the films and music of that year really well, Usher, Blue, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Ronan Keating, Coldplay, Shaggy.
I heard Basement Jaxx Romeo on Kisstory recently, it was a really big hit in 2001.
Sorry, can’t believe it was 20 years ago, I don’t feel any older...

I was 14 in 2000.

I remember wearing low rise jeans with tiny tops that showed every little imperfection. Being a size 0 was the norm (see Kate Moss' comment about being skinny). I got an eating disorder in the early 2000s, as did multiple of my friends. We were all obsessed with Cassie from Skins (although this show started in 2007-ish).

We had fake IDs so started going out at 15. I can't believe we never got caught, we all looked so young Grin

I travelled South America for 9 months in 2004-2005 and it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. We had mobile phones, but texting was way too expensive so I'd send my mum an e-mail once every month or so.
