It's not track and trace (unless you are talking about Royal Mail)

Confused

Everyone knows what people mean by it in relation to Covid. It gets corrected on every single thread (and there have been a lot) when someone puts 'track and trace'. Cue loads of 'that's the Royal Mail' comments.

I know it's test and trace but prefer to call it track and trace as I know it is annoying to some people :-)

Blankspace4 · 07/07/2021 21:04

Honestly…does it matter?

Sparklingbrook · 07/07/2021 21:05

Cheer up Confused I am absolutely fine.

worktrip · 07/07/2021 21:13

It's even up officially in our ice rink with the scan code underneath

Says you that made a thread about it. Maybe follow your own advice

Well obviously not, just like much of the stuff on here. Similar to people's comments on chester draws, would of etc. I thought the Smile would have made it clear it was a light hearted post and not a telling off! Grin

People get told off about it on every single thread as soon as they put 'test and trace' everyone starts correcting them.

We should just refer to it as the stupid app which everyone is deleting.

Why though? It is test and trace. But yes, absolutely it is a stupid app. I haven't got it but I hate it as in my job it has to come up quite a lot and very senior people call it track and trace so perhaps that is where my minor irritation lies. Oh well, such is life!

Why though?

Not sure, i guess it makes them feel superior? Even though it's obvious what is meant.

PandemicPalava · 08/07/2021 00:22

Ha ha ha ha this is hilarious! How is everyone saying this? In real life, on here, on signs. So funny.

mibbelucieachwell · 08/07/2021 00:29

Or the Hunt Em Down team, as I like to say.

Blueeyedgirl21 · 08/07/2021 00:34

Never had the app, will never get it, blocked them after they rang me at 7am after testing positive for covid. Gave them a piece of my mind to never call me again and then blocked. Won’t have some call center telling me to stay in when I know what I have to do. They told my friend it was their legal duty to tell her 3 week old baby to isolate. Absolute shower of dickheads

PurpleSunrise · 08/07/2021 00:37

I have the same irritation Grin I always want to correct posters but don’t want to be a wanker!

Apart from the baby thing that all sounds fairly normal?

I don't even know what it's meant to be called as I don't have the app.
I do fill in the piece of paper when required though if I act thick and say I don't have a smart phone.

PurpleSunrise · 08/07/2021 10:23

The app is only one part of what test and trace does, separately from that they could call/text you and tell you you’re a contact of someone tested positive and legally have to isolate.

Blueeyedgirl21 · 16/07/2021 09:03

@PurpleSunrise I don’t see how ringing someone 5x at 7am when they’re ill is acceptable. If it was someone I knew I’d tell them off! Unless it was a real emergency life or death. Can’t they text or email? Then the constant calls every day almost throughout the isolation period. What if you were in hospital on deaths door using your phone to communicate with loved ones, if they kept ringing it would be so distressing.

Blueeyedgirl21 · 16/07/2021 09:05

Plus they are useless on the phone. If you said ‘actually I’ve got no food in’ they wouldn’t offer any practical help. They just want to get their spiel said and get off the phone. I suppose it provided employment for some people when they’d be otherwise unemployed so I guess that’s good but it is a useless and pointless waste of money in my eyes. Also the app - everyone I know deleted it. When places ask me to scan the code I just open my camera on my phone and pretend to do it, that’s what everyone else I know does, including my nana!
