Squirty cream in coffee rather than milk?

Feels like an extravagance but squirty cream would work in coffee if I've run out of milk, right or is this like the time I tried to make a vanilla coffee by putting a vanilla teabag in a cup of coffee?

Erm!

No UHT to hand?

MartinaMcBride · 07/07/2021 20:21

I use squirty cream sometimes, it's lovely.

GlutenFreeGingerCake · 07/07/2021 20:21

No I think it would be horrible.

Merry nope no UHT, so the alternative is black. I'll be bouncing off the walls!

Hmm even split Martina and Gluten. I might have to try it and see. Waste of a good coffee if it's awful, though...

Have you got any vanilla ice cream?

LotsoTheStrawberryBear · 07/07/2021 20:27

My DP does this all the time with Espresso. He's Hungarian and I think it's a pretty common thing there???

idontlikealdi · 07/07/2021 20:27

Oh god no.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 07/07/2021 20:28

I'd sooner put evaporated milk in than squirty cream, you end up with a greasy mess and oil slick over your coffee unless it's the really nice Isigny squirty stuff that is actually real cream.

HenriettaBadger · 07/07/2021 20:44

Beetle sadly, very sadly, no vanilla ice cream. Not that it would last long enough to be used for coffee!

Lotso that's interesting, I didn't know it was a thing in Hungary!

Laurie not fancy cream no, so it could be an absolute disaster.

Thanks all for responding, I will be experimenting in the morning! Fingers crossed I don't waste a good cup of Brew!

I have done it in desperation. It's drinkable.

StarryNight468 · 07/07/2021 20:48

I put squirty cream in brandy coffees over Christmas times.

HenriettaBadger · 07/07/2021 20:54

Neep drinkable might be my aim tbh!
Starry I like your style! If only it was Christmas. Can I pretend?!

OP posts:
M0rT · 07/07/2021 20:55

I tried it last Christmas making Calypso coffee. Was not a success to be honest.
Have you any honey?
Black with honey is nice.

Em308 · 07/07/2021 20:58

If it’s good enough for —Baileys— hot chocolate, it’s good enough for coffee.

Eleoura · 07/07/2021 21:00

Its fat and air!!! You'd end up with a greasy slick. I'd turn it into an Irish coffee instead Grin

Daydrambeliever · 07/07/2021 21:02

In 1980's Glasgow this was a cappuccino. Delish.

Onesailwait · 07/07/2021 21:02

It'll work . single cream or half & half would be better if you could get it in the UK. My last visit home to UK I asked for cream & sugar in my coffee they looked at me like I had 2 heads & then offered squirty cream, it was OK. I was surprised even Starbucks didn't offer cream for coffee, it's a standard order here. Double double coffee 2 cream 2 sugar

SimonedeBeauvoirscat · 07/07/2021 21:03

It will just melt and create a fat slick across the top of your coffee. If you need to drink it diluted then just put some more water in - ?!

This is my Christmas extravagance. Xmas Eve, Xmas day and boxing day all coffees with squirty cream. Rest year regular milk. I get so excited in the run up to Xmas from squirty cream coffee, not fussed about presents or the Xmas dinner
Kleptronic · 07/07/2021 21:34

@Onesailwait if you ask for pouring cream you'll get it. I do low carb and that's what I say in Starbucks/Costa/caffe Nero, it's the double cream (or heavy in America) - otherwise they give me squirty cream.

Cakeofdoom · 07/07/2021 21:39

I don't have anything else... a strong Nespresso every morning in my tall coffee glass and a swirl of squirty and a dust of cocoa.. lush :-)

LavendulaAngustifolia · 07/07/2021 21:41

The answer is Baileys

HenriettaBadger · 07/07/2021 21:41

Ok, you've (mainly) convinced me to give it a try! I'm quite excited!

NatriumChloride · 07/07/2021 21:45

I only ever have my coffee with single or double cream.

NatriumChloride · 07/07/2021 21:46

Hasten to add not the squirty cream!
