Where is my tadpole?

Had the tadpole about 3 weeks now, it has little froggy legs and teeny tiny eyes, still has his/her tail. Quite proud daughter has kept tadpole alive so long.

Tadpole has gone.

Where the fuck has it gone?

Where have you been keeping it?

WillowGrand · 07/07/2021 18:13

In a bowl on the counter with a rock in it for when it needs air. It’s shallow by I wouldn’t think shallow enough to have frogged fully from last night and jumped out…

Feckauras · 07/07/2021 18:15

Did you have a lid on bowl?

ViperAtTheGatesOfDawn · 07/07/2021 18:15

They can jump quite a long way!

WillowGrand · 07/07/2021 18:16

Tadpole house. No lid.

Can they jump when still a tadpole but with little froggy legs??

I’ve now gone from being sad about the tadpole to freaking the little fucker is hopping about somewhere Shock

It's hanging about in your house somewhere. I have froglets in the grass near my pond, they are proper tiny.

Zarene · 07/07/2021 18:19

You don't have a cat do you....?

pickingdaisies · 07/07/2021 18:19

Cat?

WillowGrand · 07/07/2021 18:22

I do have a cat. Shit.

@WillowGrand

I do have a cat. Shit.
Seriously 🙄

My cat brings frogs in and we don't even have a pond.

@WillowGrand

I do have a cat. Shit.
Oh my god 🤣
WillowGrand · 07/07/2021 18:54

I didn’t even think about the fucking cat Blush

She just lazes on the hammock all day, she’s not exactly a lean mean hunting machine and I didn’t think she’d want to get wet.

Obviously you have figured out where it's (probably) gone now, however if you had more than one I was going to suggest that they had eaten each other as apparently this happens too. We went from 10 tadpoles to 6 in the space of a week and I genuinely had no idea where they were going til my friend gently broke the news to me.

WillowGrand · 07/07/2021 18:55

Alas poor froglet Sad

Shut UP cannibal tadpoles?

I’ve gone off the whole idea Envy

@happinessischocolate - you don't need a pond. Just damp areas for grass. We used to get them under the shed in our old house.

ViperAtTheGatesOfDawn · 07/07/2021 18:56

Oh dear Sad

You need a pond.

WeWantAMackerelNotASprat · 07/07/2021 19:03

We had tadpoles at school and I sat watching a bird take them and feed them to their babies! (We then covered the container!)

MadKittenWoman · 07/07/2021 19:32

They climb. Found one of our froglets on the lawn today.

MadKittenWoman · 07/07/2021 19:33

It was very near our kitten, but we managed to put it back in the pond marginals.
