1 in 15 chance

Hi all, I'm new on here but thought I would give it a shot to try and get some help, support, advice or reassurance for my current situation as I'm going slightly mental!

So after a 2.5yr journey trying to conceive, our first round of IVF was successful in April this year (thank you god) and we've just had our 12 week scan.

The NT was 1.2mm and all looked good and we opted for the bloods too as I'm 40.....low and behold, I got a call Monday to say following the blood test results I'm 1 in 15 chance of Downs.
bHcg - 2.75
PAPP - A - 0.31

We have booked a NIPT this Friday but I cant stop thinking, crying, googling!

It would just be rubbish if we were the 1! I'm trying to hold onto the stats of less than 7% chance and the NT results was good.

Any comments would be much appreciated :)

Congratulations on your pregnancy. So sorry you are now going through this worrying time, I just wanted to bump your post in case anyone with any experience could offer some reassurance for you. Flowers

I had a 1:12. Also very high NT.
So much so, they asked me to make an appointment to discuss termination options. Which I refused.
Amnio results positive.
They sent me for a foetal heart scan in Oxford - NAD.
She's 9 now, and she's an amazing nuisance who doesn't like going to bed.

Thanks

mine was 1:4

she's on the sofa now just home from her 1st year at uni and eyeing up my packet of Lotus biscuits. Funny, clever and a joy

Almost 4 years ago mine came back 1 in 15 too, then the blood test actually said 1 in a million. I was worried sick for weeks so I can imagine how you're feeling. The waiting is the worst part. Hope all is well in the end for you.

Been there. Wishing you all the best at such a worrying time.

Firstly thank you all so much for taking the time to post....I kept checking yesterday and felt a little sad as there was none for a while. I've not used this platform before so trying to work my way around to get the best support.
My mind keeps going round in circles and one minute I focus on the normal NT and its less than 7% chance feeling very positive and hopeful and the next, but what if???
I'm just feeling so scared....

Oh gosh that must be so difficult @inneedofhelpandsupport especially after such a long journey to get pregnant in the first place. I'm starting IVF in a few months time and have some of these concerns too, although of course you are much further along.

I really feel for you, and in your situation I think all you can do is keep going and hope for the best. It is lovely so many people have commented on here saying they had similar or worse odds of Downs and now have wonderful, healthy children.

Hold onto that and try to focus on things going right rather than things going wrong. It will be better for your stress levels and for both you and baby.

Congrats on your pregnancy and everything crossed for you!!
