Name for a new gin?

I know all you lot have great imaginations. I am producing my own gin, just on a very small scale to be sold at local shows, markets etc. The one thing I am stuck on is a unique name which will stand out but also means something.
My late mother was brought up in Singapore and loved an afternoon gin so thought I could have a name which could conjure up that memory. I can't actually use her name as it is boring and old fashioned, think Doris or similar. This wouldn't sound very sexy or enticing for a gin!
I would love some ideas please as I can't move on with anything else until I have a name.

If I were inventing a gin I would call it Jennifer Juniper after the 1960s Donovan song. But I won’t be inventing a gin.

Although I am intrigued, not in a good way, by a gin called Edna or Vera or whatever the old fashioned name is!

Raffles is good.

What area do you live in? There’s one I. glasgow called Glasweg-gin.

Sun in the afternoon?

Doris might not be a bad name. What about her surname (maiden or married?)

VeniVidiWeeWee · 06/07/2021 22:57

I think the Raffles hotel would sue.

You’d have to check out trademarks etc if you use Raffles, they’re likely to hold one worldwide as they sell cocktail kits etc.

Where are you? If you’re selling locally, I’d name it after something around you. We’ve got a great cottage rum brand near me that’s named rums after a local park, and a fancy street; and they seem to really pique curiosity and get people trying them when she’s at markets.

Keppel (district in Singapore)

Blindleadingtheblind · 06/07/2021 23:02

Where abouts in Singapore did she live? Can you name it after a place there. Jurong Island Gin sounds nice.

I like Gingapore!
Alsi like the idea of Mavis' gin or Vera's gin, or whatever your mums name is. The more frumpy the name the better, kind of cool.

CormoranStrike · 06/07/2021 23:13

One of the big tourist attractions in Singapore is the botanic garden, so Singalore Botanics would work.

Oe looking at place names in Aingapore I like Clementi and Sentosa. Or if your gin is really fragrant, Scentosa.

CormoranStrike · 06/07/2021 23:14

And I clearly cannot type Singapore

Robinsons.

Eleoura · 06/07/2021 23:16

Orchids or Orchard gin (the flower or the main shopping strip in Singapore)
Sentosa
MRT (their transport system)
Jurong Gin

Windyone · 06/07/2021 23:16

What’s the USP of your gin?

Blueroses99 · 06/07/2021 23:18

If the name is too closely linked to Singapore, it might inadvertently put off those who like to buy local. What style/flavour is the gin?
