I am on annual leave this week and have felt fed up and unmotivated all day I’ve channel hopped on the tv attempted to read not felt motivated to do any housework. Having a tough time with dd who is in a controlling unhealthy relationship and have just spent the day feeling sad at how our relationship is now but there isn’t anything I can do about that and that has been going on for a year now
Think the time of the month is due and I am peri menopausal so not helping with my low mood
So hit me with your pick me up tips what perks you up when you feel naffed off

I felt like this earlier and then had a walk around the block and a dance in the kitchen, felt miles better! Then retreated back to the sofa.

Alfiemoon1 · 06/07/2021 20:52

I took the dog for a long walk in between the rain which usually perks me up but like you retreated back to the sofa. Don’t think the rubbish weather is helping it’s been dry until my annual leave started lol

Put clean sheets on the bed and have a nice bath. It makes the end of the day feel like a little bit of luxury. Though to be honest, a good dog walk usually works for me too. A workout is great but can be really hard to get motivated when you’re having a down day. Hope tomorrow is better for you.

Walking the dog usually clears my head and lifts my mood but just ended up going over the situation my daughter which is pointless

I struggle to change the bed on my own and dh is away at the moment but might go for a soak in the bath

Nice food.
Sleeping.
Upbeat music.

kitty1993 · 06/07/2021 21:42

This might sound ridiculous but go to the mirror and give yourself your biggest cheesiest grin 😁
You'll get to see someone smiling back at you and you'll likely feel so stupid you'll make yourself laugh

🤪

Really really didn't want to go to the gym but I went and now feel much better.

Hope you feel better OP.

Alfiemoon1 · 06/07/2021 21:45

I’ve had nice food. Think lack of sleep might be a contributing factor I keep waking up at 5 am had new windows fitted recently so am getting quotes on shutters and blinds as I think my bedroom curtains are to light.

Agree with exercise, hot bath, lots moisturiser body and face
Light a candle.
Read a book, Netflix
Go out to a movie - a movie during day with glass wine always feels luxurious

Alfiemoon1 · 06/07/2021 21:49

I watch videos of my children on my phone that are about a year old and smile at how small they were xx

MistySkiesAfterRain · 06/07/2021 22:07

Making a list for tomorrow - 3 things
Vitamin D
Happy foods with tryptophan- salmon, avocados type thing.
Uplifting classical music
Positive visualistion - imagine something coming up going well
Epsom salts bath
Snug under heavy blanket

When my period is due I've taken to having a hot water bottle BEFORE it arrives, under a blanket. I'm deluding myself this helps it come, but its nice too as I associate it with comfort.

Also, I really recommend an episode of Shaun The Sheep, 7 mins long and almost always make me feel things are all right in the world 😂

Oh love. I bet your DC feel that way underneath, if only there was something that made them stop and think of saying it. Unfortunately it’s usually something bad that makes teens think of saying these nice things so maybe don’t wish for it!

To cheer myself up: I read comfort books. Usually books from my teens I’ve read many times, which are escapist and have a happy ending.

Some of the youtube yoga/stretching videos are quite good

Seeing the happiness of the football crowds perks me up. So many people happy and celebrating, no idea what they are facing or been through in their personal lives but for that moment they are all happy and jumping around. It makes me happy to see others happy. I need to bottle that and dose myself up on it when needed
