Party bag ideas for 9 yr old boys

We are hopefully going to have a small party for sons birthday, but I am stuck on party bag ideas.

Will only be boys and prefer to not give them lots of tat that will go in the bin or tons of sweets.

Any ideas from more imaginative mums ?

Thanks

Isn't 9 a bit old? My dd was 9 last month. I didn't bother.

Really ? I've always done party bags until they start secondary school ?

I normally go to Poundland or home bargains and pick up a toy each for £1

A book? For my DS 8th birthday we put a book that tied in with the theme (ninjago)

Or most 9 year olds round here seems to be obsessed with “fidgets” like this - although you might think of them as tat

Of course 9 yr olds like a party bag! I'm 42 and I still love a party bag Grin

Water pistols and water balloons are a good shout for this time of year. My 13yr old and his best mate had a water pistol fight on Saturday, it was great seeing them laughing their heads off and being kids again.

I would do:

Water pistol
Water balloons
Bar of chocolate
Packet of popcorn

One of the best I've seen was tjose mechanical fish in a large clear bag filled with water.

coodawoodashooda · 06/07/2021 11:19

Ive done bubble bath. Or a £1 box of chocolates.

Sorry, I'm in the plastic toy and a fuck ton of sweets crew. I never used to be, but over the years this is what makes them happy.

idontlikealdi · 06/07/2021 11:23

Sweets make them happy. Just go with it. They don't want a book!

Dogsandbabies · 06/07/2021 11:23

Depends on the budget. We only invited 10 kids so I got them a Dobble each and a cone of sweets.

coodawoodashooda · 06/07/2021 11:24

Yeah. They dont want a book.

A football.

Puffalicious · 06/07/2021 11:27

I did Lego sticker books- the chunky ones.

41sunnydays · 06/07/2021 11:27

Whilst for my eldest we used to do books and stuff, my youngest is a no reading kind of child ! Unfortunately!

I think water pistols is a great idea - thanks

Will do that with some sweets 😀

Perfect!

We’ve received a water bottle with sweets in which went down really well. Also a football, set of top trumps and a personalised mug.

I agree - same age as you and agree everyone loves a good party bag. Love the water pistol idea! Thanks Smile

Lego mini figures?

NuffSaidSam · 06/07/2021 11:29

I don't think you can do party bags on a reasonable budget and not include plastic tat and sweets. That's what party bags are! I also think 9 is a bit old for the traditional party bag.

I would go with a little gift each if you want to send them home with something. Water balloons/water gun/football all good ideas imo.
