I'm in the market for new hair straighteners but I'm not sure what is best ghd or cloud 9. Don't want to buy both as they are pretty expensive..

I suspect you will get a fair few people suggesting Cloud 9’s as I did when I started one of these threads. I bought some and they are rubbish! I don’t know why everyone raves about them because I have to run them over my hair several times and it’s still frizzy!
The Cloud 9’s are not a patch on my old steampods. They are a faff which is why I replaced them but they were the best for doing the job I’ve ever used. I’m tempted to buy the newer ones with the in built water tank.

I can’t give an opinion on GHD’s because I’ve never used them. I’ve read several reviews saying there not what they used to be but I don’t know what they used to be so I doubt that’s helpful.

Remington!! £30 Argos! Bought after my GHDs died after 14 year 💔 they are honestly just as good

Cloud 9 are the people behind the original GHDs, GHDs are now shite and I wasn't impressed with Cloud 9 either. I have Remington ones, £30 and better than either of those other 2

Love my cloud nines, I have the touch and the wide plates. Wouldn’t buy GHDs again.

@NameChanged15729 I remember my sister had the babyliss straighteners with the water tank on them back in the 90's they were good..

@MovingtoOz1Day I heard the the she straighteners that were out years ago where made by the ex wife of the man who mad the ghds. They looked the same as ghds but with she on them as she wanted to get back at him andake him go out of business I could be wrong lol ..

I'm a hairdresser and I use cloud 9's both at home and in the salon, it's not a lie that with straighteners you definitely get what you pay for and the more you can afford the better tends to be what I say to my clients when they ask me.

I currently have Cloud9 touch & I think they're similar to my original GHD's.

I had a pair of GHD before them - they were awful. Not a patch on the originals.

I've also (fairly recently) had Remmington that were all of £30 & did a good job but they didn't last long. Maybe a couple of years before they broke.

Kipozi get good reviews for around the £30 mark :)

Cloud 9

ScottishNewbie · 05/07/2021 22:12

I've had GHD's for 15 years. (3 over that time).
I think they're great! I notice much less damage to my hair then with friends who use the cheaper models.
I know the Dyson ones are supposed to be AMAZING
