I cannot book a pcr test anywhere in the UK. What has happened? Why isn't this on the news?

How strange

Peachyqueen · 05/07/2021 13:18

I've just checked, neither can I. What's going on??

FawnFrenchieMum · 05/07/2021 13:19

You sure the page isn’t just down briefly? I booked one last week within the hour and had a choice of several locations.

Harrykanesrightsock · 05/07/2021 13:19

My brother booked one this morning and his wife and dcs about an hour ago. My mum has ordered an at home one. A couple of staff members and families have done them over the last few days. I see no problems where we are.

JackieCollinshasnoauthority · 05/07/2021 13:20

That's weird. Maybe a problem with the booking site? Or maybe they're preparing for freedom day by burning all the tests. It does say home tests are available though.

Lollycatcatcatlolly · 05/07/2021 13:20

Says 'none available' the page is working fine. It could be an IT issue but you would hope someone would notice.

Your correct though, I’m sure it’s just a glitch though.

JackieCollinshasnoauthority · 05/07/2021 13:21

Do you mean England or UK because it's only England that's showing unavailable for me? I'm in Wales.

Bionicname · 05/07/2021 13:21

What’s your reason for wanting to book a pcr test? Do you have any of the three main symptoms they list? (Asking because I wonder if they do any filtering based on how you answer some of the up front questions)

Cosybelles · 05/07/2021 13:22

Oh yeah, that's funny isn't it. They must be doing an update. Looks like the home tests are still available so it's not about the availability of the tests. Perhaps they are doing a deep clean of all the sites or re-arranging the traffic cones Grin

Lollycatcatcatlolly · 05/07/2021 13:22

This is what I get

I booked one this morning, was available in all regions across the UK, so perhaps temporarily down

Bionicname · 05/07/2021 13:23

Sorry cross posted with lots of people…

Lollycatcatcatlolly · 05/07/2021 13:24

I mean England, sorry.

Dd currently isolating as was in contact with a positive case. She now has a temp of 39 degrees, despite being otherwise well, just a bit clingy. So need a test for her.

onthinice · 05/07/2021 13:25

There's a problem with the system. Just turn up at your local centre and you can do one, then you register the test online afterwards (this part of the system was working yesterday at least).

It hadn’t asked any questions before this page.
Lollycatcatcatlolly · 05/07/2021 13:26

I think you are right, it must be an update or glitch. It surprised me and was wondering if just me!Confused

Well seeing as Northern Ireland has them, I'd say there are some in the UK after all.
Lollycatcatcatlolly · 05/07/2021 13:27

Thanks @onthinice do you work at a test centre? Why don't they put an error message up?

OP posts:
onthinice · 05/07/2021 13:31

No, sorry I should have said, i took DD last night for a test. Couldn't book one but when I got there they said lots of people had had problems and we just did one and then they told me how to register the test. Her test was at 5ish pm and I got emailed the results at 3am so very very quick turnaround.

Fizzgigg · 05/07/2021 13:34

We did it yesterday morning but we don't have results yet so things do seem busy

user1471530109 · 05/07/2021 13:40

I booked one Saturday and had it the same day a couple of hours later. I live on the Welsh border so chose to have it done in wales otherwise I could’ve had it in England but 45 miles away (still on the same day).
