Just that really!
Ignore the green cushions. Ordered replacements in May. Still haven't arrived 😳

What would you put on this shelf?

Books, photos and trinkets.

MissMissTorrance · 05/07/2021 11:01

I'd not be able to sleep with a shelf above me head.
However on a normal shelf like that in my bedroom I'd get some bookends and add books and maybe a photo or print in a frame.

movingadviceneeded · 05/07/2021 11:01

Trinkets - but I agree, would struggle with a shelf above my head! Off topic (sorry!) where is your bed from? Am looking for something similar!

Forestdweller11 · 05/07/2021 11:06

I'd be taking the shelf down, esp as we had a shelf in bed room falling off the wall incident in the early hours of Friday morning. Luckily it fell in to the dogs crate so was more shocking than causing damage. Dog is still too traumatised to sleep in his bed though .

I'd be putting fake green plants on it (say 3) 5 or so books and a squat vase

Forestdweller11 · 05/07/2021 11:07

Don't know where OP got her bed from and hopefully she will answer, but we have similar and they came from Dunelm

HelloCanYouHearMe · 05/07/2021 11:16

Where's the plant from OP?

I don't have a shelf in my room, but do have a set of elephants with upward facing entwined trunks (bought for me, supposed to be lucky or something 🤷‍♀️) sitting on top of a mirror.

I'd go for a few pictures maybe?

HelloCanYouHearMe · 05/07/2021 11:19

I have a very similar bed which I got from a website called Time4Sleep

NuffSaidSam · 05/07/2021 11:19

All my hopes and dreams.

Or maybe some of those big silver letters to spell out 'sexy times'.

Ted27 · 05/07/2021 11:21

The only reason I have put shelves up anywhere is because I need somewhere to put stuff I already have

If you dont know what to put on it, do you really need it?

YouLookSoCool · 05/07/2021 11:31

A few photo frames. Maybe books but only if I had bookends so was absolutely sure they wouldn't fall off.

viques · 05/07/2021 11:32

Dust. That’s all it’s going to collect, you might as well start as you mean to go on.

Agree, it's a bit chicken and egg, really... I'd take it down, personally. Or at least move it.
sunnysidegold · 05/07/2021 11:40

Rule of three apparently works. So I'd do three prints -biggish one and two smaller. Small stack of books at one end. Like you trailing plant. Couple of "ornaments" like blown glass, a slice of quartz, short ish vase....

I like your shelf. I'm dreaming of decorating my bedroom
Can you tell?

Stuckforideas2021 · 05/07/2021 11:55

DH's idea to have it. Yes I am a bit scared it will murder me in the night.
Bed is from a place called Furniture First but I've had it for 5 years.
Plant is Next. I got it last week so should still be in.

Something light so when they fall of you don't get concussion!

Pieceofpurplesky · 05/07/2021 11:55

Off

Gingernaut · 05/07/2021 12:00

I'd take it down too.

I'd put something safe, light and easy to keep clean - no glass, no cuddly toys, no ceramics and no textiles - unless you like trying to clean dusty fabrics.

Stuckforideas2021 · 05/07/2021 12:05

I don't think DH would be impressed if I took it down. It only went up a week or so ago

Nicolastuffedone · 05/07/2021 12:21

I’d take it down….I think it looks odd stuck there

Bobbots · 05/07/2021 13:53

It looks good but I agree you shouldn’t put anything too heavy on it. Maybe artificial plants, a print in a nice lightweight frame? The cheap ones from IKEA weigh very little and have plastic rather than glass in. Should reduce the chances of shelf murder.

StCharlotte · 05/07/2021 14:08

We have similar (was there when we moved in). We have a pair of wedding photos, a "money tree" from Singapore (sadly not a magic one) and a scent bottle from the hotel where we spent our wedding night. We also had a little heart hanging down but the kittens kept attacking it.

Tlollj · 05/07/2021 14:11

Something light so it doesn’t hurt if it hits you on the head.
Also I like the green cushions.
