24 hours in the Yorkshire Dales - what to see/where to go?

Long story short - staying for 2 nights (Saturday and Sunday) in the Skipton area as part of a trip north - have the day free on the Sunday and would like to see as much of the YD as possible. Any suggestions on must sees/what to do? Have a car but not never been to the area so am looking forward to exploring.

Next destination after YD will be the North Yorkshire Moors Grin

Wharfedale is a good bet. Bolton Abbey is lovely (packed on a hot day though) and good for paddling, and so is Burnsall. Grassington is where they filmed the new series of All Creatures Great and Small, and then you can go onto Kilnsey Crag and Kettlewell. Come back via Malham cove. Swaledale is also lovely, especially at the moment as the hay meadows are in full bloom (not sure when they are cut) but a bit further from Skipton. You could also drive west to Settle/Horton in Ribblesdale which is a bit wilder.

For the North York Moors, you could take the North York Moors railway from Pickering to get a good flavour of the area. Otherwise Hutton Le Hole, Helmsley, Goathland and Levisham are all very pretty villages
