Can anyone help me remember this tv series?

I think it was probably BBC one, in the last ten years. It was a ghost story set in the past (maybe Tudor times) and also in the present day. The first episode was all in the past, the people in the house were seeing lights flashing and doors opening and closing and it ended where one of the main characters goes outside and comes across a person from the present day holding an iPad.
Then the second episode was about the present day family living in the same house, being haunted by the tudor times occupants.
Sorry if it's not a very clear description! I was looking for something to watch this afternoon and this sprung to mind as something I'd enjoyed watching.

Omg you’ve triggered a memory of that programme for me and I can’t remember what it was called. Had one of the characters (a woman) run away from hospital?

MonicaGellerBing · 04/07/2021 20:38

Was it Ghosts? BBC1

SayingMyThing · 04/07/2021 20:39

Ghosts?

That sounds like a good series!

NannyR · 04/07/2021 20:41

No, I was watching Ghosts and that was what triggered this memory. It was a two or three part drama type thing rather than a comedy.

I was going to say Ghosts too but that’s one ghost from each time period, not a multiple gangs of ghosts haunting different families. Intriguing!

SayingMyThing · 04/07/2021 20:43

Crooked House

Quirrelsotherface · 04/07/2021 20:43

I don't know but it sounds good so I'm shamelessly place marking!

Baboutheocelot · 04/07/2021 20:43

Is it the living and the dead?

Rillington · 04/07/2021 20:44

Was it The Secrets of Crickley Hall?

JaggyJumper · 04/07/2021 20:44

There was one called marchlands or something similar that went through 3 different time periods of it might be that?

ifherbumwereabungalow · 04/07/2021 20:44

There was a series called The Living And The Dead which had a similar set up but I think that was set in Victorian times rather than Tudor.

Corrag · 04/07/2021 20:45

I was going to say Crooked House as well

ifherbumwereabungalow · 04/07/2021 20:45

Apologies, I see someone suggested this while I was typing!

Ulysses · 04/07/2021 20:46

Agree it was the Living and the Dead. I loved that.

popcornpopping · 04/07/2021 20:47

Noises but I want to watch it!

Ulysses · 04/07/2021 20:47

Yes it was in Victorian times. It’s the iPad that rings a bell.

ZombieEthel · 04/07/2021 20:56

It was definitely The Living and the Dead, starring Colin Morgan. Loved it but sadly no second series.

NannyR · 04/07/2021 20:59

It could possibly be the living and the dead, but I've had a quick Google and there doesn't seem to be a present day element to it. In the thing I'm thinking about, the old day people were experiencing weird goings on and the present day people were also experiencing weird stuff and the twist was that they were seeing glimpses of each other in a sort of time travel way in the same house.

Yep, the living and the dead. Definitely.

Ulysses · 04/07/2021 21:09

In the Living & the Dead there's a woman in some sort of hospital with her baby son after being diagnosed with post partum psychosis. She's the great grand daughter of the Victorian character.

NannyR · 04/07/2021 21:13

I think it actually is the living and the dead, I've just watched a clip where there are car headlights driving towards him and I think I remember that too. Thank you for solving that mystery!!
Unfortunately it's not on Netflix or britbox to watch😕

Nooo, I need to watch it now as well! You’ve got my hopes up, OP Grin

It was The Living and The Dead, such a good series and they didn’t recommission it, there was a petition to get another series and the last episode sort of set it up. I was really upset, it’s so seldom I love anything as much as that ☹️

whoami24601 · 04/07/2021 21:21

Loved The Living and the Dead! Gutted they didn't male a second series 😫
