Amazon delivery - One Time Password needed ...

Never had this before. Seems a good idea.

Only unless I am being spectacularly dim, I can't see it when I click "Track Package" like what they says I should.

Or is it updated nearer the delivery time ? Since the package is on the van (according to the passwordless tracking page ...)

(It's a robot vacuum cleaner, for the nosy Grin)

It gets sent the day of delivery.

It is a good idea however having recently experienced issues with this kind of delivery:

  • only give it out with the person in front of you ... do not give it if they call and ask for it no matter what they say (and report this if they ask for it)
  • check the white package label Q code matches the yellow one on the box
  • open the parcel before they leave to make sure what you ordered is in it

Unfortunately OTP makes it clear to people within the delivery chain the package has something valuable in it and essentially which one to nick.

Amazon support can be very helpful either over chat or ringing you back

This is the day of delivery Smile

So I've had an email telling me I need it, but as of now can't find it anywhere. Which is a surprising lapse of customer communication from the Bezos-launching behemoth. Hence my post to see if I've missed something, or if the instructions really are that vague.

I guess they have until 10pm (well 9:59) to update me ...

(Personally a better idea would have been a QR code in the email to show the driver. But that's me overcomplicating life ...)

No idea, but as one of the nosy - hope you get your robovac and enjoy it, which one have you gone for?

For me it was a separate email

Coredy 750 ...

If it can buzz about the place keeping it 90% clean, that'll cut down the work I have to do that currently reduces quality time with DW ...

For something like that I'll probably post a review after a week or two - after all, surely the universe needs my insights too ...

Titled like this “Arriving Today: A one-time password is required for your Amazon delivery”

Not helpful, but I got a robovac recently and it's life changing Grin

SapatSea · 04/07/2021 10:40

I had something delivered last week with this. The passsword wasn't sent to my email until about 3 or 4pm and the item was delivered a couple of hours later.

Ah ! The email I had was:

Dispatched: A one-time password is required for this Amazon delivery

So presumably a second one is on the way ...

Innovations like this do reflect badly on outfits that can't/won't do similar to reduce fraud.

For all the caterwauling about reselling tickets, there are a couple of artists who - with no fuss whatsoever - managed to eliminate touting resellers without needing a fundamental shift in English common l;aw of property ....

And as I was typing that I had a notification pop up I had received an email "Arriving today ..." Grin

They say "password", but it's more like passcode - just a load of numbers.

Yes - it's not clear in the first email that it will be sent later. Bad form on Amazons part, really. I wonder if they'll do anything about it. I thought about 10 years ago that being able to add something to a wishlist directly from the search results would be pretty nifty. And so (they claimed) did they. Still waiting ....

Hope it arrived!

igelkott2021 · 05/07/2021 08:28

I hope you enjoy your robovac.

But am the only one being thick and not understanding this? I use Amazon frequently for items at all sorts of price points. I am the same person at the same address for whatever I order.

It's not going to go missing when it is delivered to my house, if anyone wants to nick it, it's going to be further up the chain, either by someone in the warehouse or the driver.

I can understand it if you ask for it to be delivered to a different address to the norm.

pitterpatterrain · 05/07/2021 09:15

To be honest igelkott2021 I would agree
My experience is that they have introduced OTP to make it clearer who is at fault when things disappear.

For me the package that arrived (that they asked me for a OTP for) had my box label stuck onto another - so my things weren’t inside - which I why I say check before they leave as then there is no wiggle room; it went missing before it got to me whether or not I gave the OTP

If you give the OTP but don’t check then potentially they could shrug their shoulders and say well it was delivered

pitterpatterrain · 05/07/2021 09:17

And amazon around here do have a tendency for leaving stuff in the doorway vs actually delivering no matter what is said, so it avoids a box with a high value item being “hidden” and not actually handed over

DGRossetti · 05/07/2021 12:42

Arrived late Sunday afternoon and is charging till I get home tonight. First impressions were how small it was (despite seeing pictures) and how quietly it snuck into it's dock.

If it manages to keep the house clean by increments in the week, it could be a life changer Smile

Mine certainly is (Eufy).

TokyoSushi · 18/07/2021 22:47

Do you like it @DGRossetti? I'm having a Eufy delivered on Tuesday and I'm sadly very excited!!
