I've ordered 3 pairs of jeans. These are being delivered by Hermes.
I received an email this morning to say the parcel was on its way.
Nothing has been delivered.
This evening I received another email to say as the parcel is so large
they will need to arrange a special delivery because the parcel is SO LARGE.
Am I BU to think someone will be able to carry these jeans.
Will it be a 2 man job.
I know I've ordered the next size up is this the reason it's a big parcel.

I think that's code for: we've got it at the depot, but forgot to put it in the van.

Oh I know the feeling - they've failed to deliver to me in the past because we're on such a steep hill.

(There is no hill).

This is why I call them 'Herpes'!!!!

We used to get regular 'we couldn't find your house' messages.

How one can miss a massive army camp i have no idea. What you mean is... I couldn't be bothered/have time to go through security to get to your house.

TrainspottingWelsh · 03/07/2021 21:36

I can't remember where I heard it but someone once said it sounds like a threat when Hermes say they have your parcel.

I've had couldn't deliver because the premises were closed. My house is quite clearly a house, not a business. The road was closed, referring to my driveway. Couldn't find the address, referring to large, well known and impossible to miss click and collect point.

However the message that really chills the heart is 'left in a safe place'

They are my least favourite. But at least I've moved now, as the previous delivery driver for Hermes used to deliver all parcels absolutely stinking of cigarette smoke. How this is even possible I do not know!

starfishmummy · 03/07/2021 21:43

@Gizmosnana are you sure that you didnt make a mistake and accidentally order 3000 pairs?

earminted · 03/07/2021 21:44

I like the email telling you that the parcel was successfully delivered and handed to the resident, so you open the front door and it's laying on the step.

hellohellosailor · 03/07/2021 21:52

Have they asked for a nominal fee to redeliver? If so it's a scam! Had to cancel my card yesterday after I realised Angry

It will be to do with the parcel banding. The sender will have paid a postable/packet rate. The driver believes it should be standard rate so more per packet and sends it back to the sender/main depo to be sorted.
