The original bar weighed 58g in the 1970s and shrunk to 52g over the coming years – before increasing to a 70g in the 90s. It is now just 26g.

Wagon Wheels used to take two hands to hold them as well Sad
@MrsFlinch indeed. I polished that one off on about 6 mins, and that was a leisurely pace.

Was yummy though
Yep! 4 bites and it’s gone!

When I was little they were about 12 inch and very chewy, stretchy toffee with chocolate that flaked off and made a right mess. Them, spangles, and Texan bar were the best things in selection boxes. They suddenly changed them to a sort of fudgey middle - quite distressing at the time. I haven't had one since.

I'm surprised they've not had to rename it curlywu.

Looubylou · 03/07/2021 21:29

Maybe 10 inches on reflection

Persipan · 03/07/2021 21:31

I'm sure they used to be, like... wurlier. They're very orderly now and in my memory they were a more chaotic shape.

Iamthewombat · 03/07/2021 21:37

@JackieCollinshasnoauthority

Much better in the olden days when they were 8ft long and needed carrying by 2-3 children.
Hahahaha

Actually I am intrigued by the 1990s increase from 52g to 70g followed by the swingeing cut to the current 26g. What’s that about? Make your mind up, Cadbury’s.

@MerylSqueak (love the username). I am living the dream.

Isn't that what Hannibal Lecter said 'a CurlyWurly and a nice bottle of Chianti' ? Grin I'm sure it was.

Yes. This is perfect. I was going to echo your idea with 'this is Perf' but realised I might sound like that ridiculous woman in the soap powder advert.
