Covid vaccine

Just wondering where you all had your covid vaccines administered, ie which muscle /where on your arm?
Me and everyone I know had them high up in the deltoid muscle.
However, DH had his today and its just above his elbow!! It also bled a lot but stopped before he left - has anyone else bled?
Just doesn't seem right and I want to call 11 1 but he doesn't want me to.

Erm, doesn't sound right to me, but I have zero medical knowledge! Me and everyone else I know got jabbed high in our upper arms, as you said, just like the BCG TB jab (for those of us old enough to have had it).

Yes, exactly the same. This is literally just above his elbow, on the back of his arm, it's really weird.

That's really weird, all arm vaccines go in your upper arm don't they?

It's always supposed to be in the muscle at the top of your arm. I've never known a vaccine go anywhere else apart from in the thigh. Is he very muscular?

My was in top of arm but I also bled a lot and now have a cracking big bruise!

It should go into he deltoid muscle at the top of the arm. I’d be calling the vaccination centre to question that!

Mine (& DHs) went in the same place as yours Op. no bleeding.

Upper arm with both. Did bruise and bleed with the first one though.

It definitely needs to be injected into the deltoid muscle. This does sound odd.

Thanks all. I called 111 who also said it was strange and questioned why. I'm currently waiting a call back from clinician. We also went back to the vaccination centre (pharmacy) who said it was fine as its right in the bottom of the deltoid. I said it wasn't it was the bottom of the triceps! He called the pharmacy advisor from the Ccg who said it should be in the deltoid or the thigh. He's now going to speak to pfizer about it!

Any further forward?

The clinician who called back from 111 said he had never heard of anyone being injected there, however, he's happy that it went into a muscle so the efficacy should be the same!
Just have to wait for the CCG pharmacy advisor to speak with Pfizer now but I will be chasing this up tomorrow. Thank you for asking!
