Life/ Transformation coaches

Are these now a thing?

One of my friends lost her job last year and suddenly started posting all over SM empowering quotes and doing these funny videos where she snaps her fingers and quotes appear. It is all about choosing a life she loves etc. Now it seems she offers her services to others to become as "empowered" as she is.

Recently a woman at work has just quit to concentrate on her business as a life coach. On her last day she sent round an email with her Instagram and website links - same clicky finger videos and empowerment quotes... from what I can tell her only other followers are other coaches, who also post the same things.

Does anyone hire these people? I honestly can't fathom what they are selling. It feels a bit mlm to me, the fact they are posting virtually identical things in the same way. Is it something dodgy?

Coaches who teach coaches how to coach coaches. There are often parallels with MLMs and faking it until they make it.

I find it fascinating that to read about. There are also multiple threads on the forum that shall not be named but it will probably be named in one of these articles.

@Brogues oh wow! Interesting. So they are basically posting for each other - do they actually get real clients? I can see how having a positive mindset helps but surely some people must end up really disappointed (and broke).

I don't really understand my ex colleague falling for this, she is very intelligent and had a really good job. It is a big leap.

It makes me feel uncomfortable that they are probably appealing to deeply unhappy/ troubled people (women it seems) with huge false promises.

I’d imagine lots end up broke (or broken). Like you say a positive mindset sound great and hopefully your friend does succeed.

I know someone who’s done it. Don’t quite get it. She’s a professional coach. She helps you work on goals and overcome emotional barriers

It's just MLM shit. Absolute load of old bollocks.
