Sainsbury's delivery anyone else having problems?

Is anyone else having problems with Sainsbury's deliveries?
Three times in the last 8 weeks I've had orders cancelled because of "total system failures". I've had short dated food sent (expires same day as the delivery or next day) and not been notified in advance as per their policy. Freezer items arriving not frozen.

Is it just a local issue from the one store or is it a widespread issue?

Seeing as I'm never using Sainsbury's again, which of the big supermarkets offer reliable delivery?

Have used Sainsbury’s home delivery for 18 months with the only problem of check out on a few occasions.Always arrives on time once or twice short date but always refunded so no problems.I am in Cornwall and food comes from Plymouth.Think you are unlucky.

Applesandpears23 · 02/07/2021 19:12

Ocado is pricy but pretty reliable.

So no problems in Plymouth, maybe I am just unlucky.
Ocado might be a bit too pricy for me now they're from M&S. I've heard bad things about Asda delivery. Wondering about Tesco?

I used to use Asda and got sick of half my shopping being subbed each week and bottles of alcohol turning up with the security caps on

I use Morrisons now - more expensive and they charge extra if they sub with a more expensive item (Asda didnt) however, they very rarely sub and i find the dates to be good

Leftphalange · 02/07/2021 19:58

Sainsburys is good here in Scotland too. And tesco. Asda shocking- as someone else said loads of the order would be missing, and not subbed for anything. Complained and got nowhere so wouldn't recommend them to anyone

We’ve used Tesco since before the pandemic. Mostly very good, few issues with late deliveries here and there but generally very reliable. Plus the Clubcard points mount up quickly

Sandsnake · 02/07/2021 20:00

Ours has been fine. Perhaps an issue at your local store like freezers breaking or something?

Lozza70 · 02/07/2021 20:09

Used every week in the last 25 months without an issue. Maybe the store it is picked from. Have you spoken to the helpline? I find them really good.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 02/07/2021 20:13

No issues here, I have been getting Sainsburys deliveries for 10 years and can count on 1 hand the deliveries with issues.

ScottishNewbie · 02/07/2021 20:15

No problems in Edinburgh! I did have some chicken breasts that went bad two days before their actual use by date. By that's the only issue so far.

Fifipop185 · 02/07/2021 20:23

No problems in SE London. I gave up on asda earlier this year as I got more subs than anything else and none of them useful. I once got a cabbage instead of a box of cat food. I've had one sub from Sainsbury's in 6 months, maybe I'm just lucky that I order boring stuff that they've got lots of.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 02/07/2021 20:25

No problems in Sheffield, although they are a bit keen on short dates.

And putting bags of spinach at the bottom of the crates so it gets squashed. But what really gets me is random apples rolling around as they don’t use bags! Even though bananas and oranges come in a bag. But never the bloody apples.

They roll around like a pin ball machine!

No issues with Sainsbury's here in Reading area - although for some some reason the driver came from the Maidenhead branch today - I'm much nearer to both Reading and Oxford, but that's their problem

choosername1234 · 02/07/2021 20:40

I think my stuff comes from the Cromwell Rd branch in central London. I just find it hard to believe they have had so many systems failures, I suspect they are not telling the customers the truth

Have used them for years and had no problems at all I think. Though I got a refund tonight for a squashed loaf of bread, it was packed under 3 bottles of wine Hmm

A few weeks ago the whole system was down so no email/receipt and payment was taken a few days later.

memberofthewedding · 02/07/2021 21:08

Ive used Tesco since they began online deliveries in my area. They were very helpful to me at the start of the pandemic when random people were taking up all the slots. Im a disabled non driver.

I googled the CEO and sent a message to his executive team. Within a few hours I got a nice response from a named person asking for my log in script so they could identify me. Since then I have been using allocated slots for vulnerable customers and have never had difficulty getting one.

Ive had very few issues and the odd substitution is usually acceptable. If not you can just reject it and they will credit you. If the driver is going to be late they usually text me.
