Anyone have a motorhome?

I’ve got it into my head that I’d love a little motorhome for me and DS (2) and that we could just nip away for weekends, midweek breaks etc. I love camping but with a small kiddo having everything already set up seems like a dream!
Anyone that’s got one can you enlighten me as to what it’s really like to own one? Pitfalls, things you love/hate etc?

I have. Single parent with one child aged ten.
We have had ours a year now and absolutely love it. Obviously costly in terms of having to have it taxed and insured and then camp fees, gas bottles and the initial set up but it’s brought us a lot of joy.
I work full time so the only pain for me is planning before we go meals, shopping and figuring out what I can cook or the nearest takeaway. And getting another set of bedding clean etc.
It’s been brilliant for us as not relying on showers or toilets in campsites and even a day trip has been fab having the toilet at hand and he ability to put the gas fire on to warm up in winter after a walk on the beach.
You just need to make sure your driving licence covers you in terms of weight as after 1997 certain vehicles aren’t covered by all licences.
I had a reversing camera fitted and that has helped no end win the extra length and blind spots compared to driving a normal car.
Oh and join the caravan and motorhome club also for cheaper campsites then say haven touring.

We have a self converted van. It's great to throw the dogs in and go away on a whim for a night or more. I couldn't live without it.
