So...one of our cars wouldn't start and then we went into lockdown facing the whole homeschooling, working thing. Car fell off the agenda. Lockdown ended, kids went back, booked car in for service and check and thought we'd use AA on morning it was booked in for to get it to the garage. We ended up having to isolate, went to postpone service and car slipped off our minds - wfh with no commute means only using one car. Fast forward to this morning..tow truck comes to take car away as tax lapsed this month. Shit happens, we took eye off the ball and cocked up. We asked if we could pay fine including tow fee there and then to them or over the phone. Computer fucking said no. It was much more sensible to pay a deposit only over the phone, have them tow the car, traipse a baby almost an hour away in the pouring rain, nowhere for miles to park as on a private estate, off a major road with no parking, queue for ages to pay etc. What was the point of that? Tell me your 'computer says no' moments.
