We've been invited to a 200 guest wedding in early august. What's the chances of it going ahead?

Depends where you are but going with 5% chance

I had 140 ish at my wedding on Saturday. I’d be very confident for a big August wedding.

Very likely.

However if the guidance stays the same it doesn't matter how many guests they have the whole concept of a wedding with no dancing, having to remain seated at socially distanced tables and no group photos feels very joyless. Sad

According to the next health sectary very likely.

I'd say 100%

SmallPrawnEnergy · 29/06/2021 07:45

It depends. I think you could have that now as long as you’re seated / socially distanced and don’t dance etc. Differing rules for outdoors of course. Not a wedding I’d like to have though.

I agree with this.

It's very likely to go ahead. However, a socially distanced wedding with all the additional rules seems joyless, and for me memories of the event would be quite sad.

High chance.
I went to a wedding at the weekend with about 100 people with dancing in a marquee with the sides up. We only sat down for the meal and it felt like a normal wedding. No rules were broken - social distancing adhered to - though we were lucky with the weather.

But the guidance is supposed to end on 19th July? If that goes ahead August should be fine- am I missing something? Or are people just being pessimistic about 19th going ahead?

It depends on where you are I suppose. We've been told in Scotland when our rules lift on 9th august there will still be some "base guidelines", what they will be still remains to be seen Sad

In England they're currently talking about all restrictions on indoor social contact ending from 19 July. Which would mean no limits on numbers or permitted activities such as dancing at a wedding, wouldn't it?

They currently don't seem concerned about the significant growth in case numbers because its not translating into increased hospitalisations and deaths.
