I have really shooting pain in my knuckle. It feels stiff and very painful.
Is this arthritis, if not what is it?

@AllllTheStupidQuestions what a wierd reply.

I have been getting knuckle pain, do you spend a lot of time on your mobile? I think that may be the cause of mine. It could be beginnings of arthritis, I don't know. Trying to cut down use.

cheeseisthebest · 29/06/2021 08:02

It's my 4th finger though so don't use that one for mobile at all.
Good thought though and yeh weird reply?

Any other menopausal symptoms?

cheeseisthebest · 29/06/2021 08:55

I'm nearly 43.
Um no I don't think so?
Other than lethargy but that's normal!

Arthritis is a sort of burning pain, get a blood test if possible

cheeseisthebest · 29/06/2021 09:45

Thanks. What would the blood test be for?

There are 2 main types of arthritis - osteoarthritis or rheumatoid. Osteo is generally 'wear and tear' and can be diagnosed with x rays. Rheumatoid is an autoimmune disease that is often diagnosed with blood tests. Other symptoms of RA include swollen, stiff, hot joints. Speak to your doctor but you may be fobbed off. It took me a long while to get my RA diagnosed (I have both) but the medication is now helping

Thank you

There are lots of types of arthritis.
Mostly it affects all the joints or certain joints. I would speak to your gp about a blood test. It's better to get it treated straight away if it is.

Thank you

Your doctor should refer you for a blood test. I had one a few years ago as I was experiencing awful pains in my fingers and hands. My mum has arthritis which developed at the same age so the dr referred me. Mine was all clear though. Good luck
