What 'treat' can I have?

I've recently given up alcohol and want to cut down on sugar intake.
If you don't drink and don't eat much sugar, what "treats" do you look forward to when the kids are in bed / at the weekend etc?
I'd love a nice hot bath at the end of the day but we only have a shower.
I'd like to indulge in a not-so-unhealthy treat in the evenings when I'm catching up with DH and relaxing on the sofa...
Any suggestions?

herbal teas - lots of different flavours?

Seedlip (non-alcoholic, not sweet, but otherwise a bit like gin)

CrushedPistachios · 28/06/2021 17:34

Nuts?

I often have a peppermint tea in the evening while stick thin DP scoffs a load of post-dinner snacks Hmm

I appreciate that might not seem like much of a treat but it satisfy a my urge to have something.

Get yourself a beautiful crystal glass and put ice and a wedge of lemon in it. Fill with posh sparkling water. Get yourself a small gorgeous cut glass bowl that feels decadent and put a handful of olives or almonds in it. Serve on a small gold tray.

It’s about the theatre and the ritual more than the treat IMO.

Impossibly delicious .

Nice bowl of strawberries, cantaloupe melon, raspberries, sliced peaches, nectarines… yes fruit has sugar in, but it’s healthier than sweets or chocolate!

Or peanuts (plain unsalted) and raisins. Nuts in shells are also good, the shells slow you down from scoffing.

Sparkling water on ice is my favourite. The natural fruit ones with no sweetener or sugar added.

Really high quality ginger ale (not alcoholic) with ice in wine glass is amazing.

This works for me, when I quit alcohol, (well done BTW, op! I do this, then fail, then repeat, all the time!)

Serve cold in a very large wine glass.

Also a few squares of 85% dark chocolate (its meant to be good for you!)
