I ordered the ensalata for my main course. Missing from the salad that arrived: butternut squash, pink pickled onions, tomatoes, avocado, pumpkin seeds and corn. 10 ingredients, 6 missing. I queried this, back went the salad, back came the amended salad, profuse apologies, pumpkin seeds and corn still missing. Side of fries also completely forgotten.

I didn't kick up a fuss. The waitress offered to get the manager. I declined (wrongly?).

This had followed on from a ridiculous cab ride of double or more the mileage to get from our hotel to the restaurant. We told him the street name, we told him the restaurant name, we told him a nearby landmark. All drew a blank so we went on a mystery tour...he guessed a postcode and went there. Wrong location!

We finished the night with the Passionfruit Zombie. 5 types of rum? All we could taste was pineapple and we are very sober!

I've not worked in hospitality. Perhaps it's a thankless task made worse by covid and brexit shortages.

Still paid the full bill, no fuss. Mug on my forehead???

Was it busy?

I think restaurants are struggling with staff post Brexit/covid.

I’ve had consistently awful service on the occasions I’ve eaten out recently, including a couple of really high end places.

This looks like a menu from Las Iguanas, am I right? Even pre-Covid they were dreadful. I've been there twice and both times they offered us 50% off the food because the food was so poor. We didn't even need to ask. I'm surprised they are still going tbh.

FrDamo · 27/06/2021 23:32

Las iguanas is correct. We hadn't been before. I know it's a chain but honestly how hard can it be to get a salad order right. It wasn't busy at all.

When a meal is leaving the kitchen in any establishment, does somebody do a quality control check? Fish & chips & mushy peas...that plate has chips on it, it's good to go, they'll never notice the missing fish & peas?
