Where for pregnancy test!

Ohdearyy · 27/06/2021 22:44

I wasn’t sure where’s best to post this, looking for some advice.

Would anyone know where to be tested for pregnancy for free? Do doctors even do them if you haven’t done an at home one or at all because of COVID? My GP only does telephone consultations right now and even they’re impossible to get. I can’t afford to buy a test and I’m 3 days late after unprotected sex.

I’m 24 and really panicking.
Please be kind

Sexual health clinic? Good luck, OP.

zeromango · 27/06/2021 22:46

Hi OP I know some sexual health clinics may offer them for free - you can also buy them in cheap shops for 99p like Home Bargains - is this something you could do?

CharlieChickenson · 27/06/2021 22:49

Pound shop/Wilco's/HB all do them, they are quite reliable, or look on Amazon/eBay for cheap ones with good reviews, usually only a couple of quid too.

I’m honestly at like 4p in my bank.

I checked the website for the nearest sexual health clinic and it says no in person appointments but they sometimes can arrange postal services so I will try ringing them when they open

Tbh a test isn't really gonna work til about 10 days after unprotezted sex and won't really be accurate til at least 14 days.

As others have said a sexual health clinic but they're hard to get appointments at the moment. Pound land do them for well a pound etc if that helps.

LaLaMelyn · 27/06/2021 22:52

When do you next get paid?

As other have said, you can buy £1 ones from Home Bargains or Poundland etc.

ApplesandBananas21 · 27/06/2021 22:57

It's pay week this week, are you able to hold out till then?

CharlieChickenson · 27/06/2021 23:08

Google 'free pregnancy test uk' a few options come up.

Ohdearyy · 27/06/2021 23:09

It’s 3 days since I should’ve been on. The sex was about 4 weeks ago and since then too.

OP posts:
Ohdearyy · 27/06/2021 23:10

I’m on UC so I don’t get paid this week.

I’m going to ring the sexual health clinic tomorrow and see if they will post me one :)

Well how/where are you planning to get food this week? Food banks sometimes have pregnancy tests. Is there really nobody you can borrow £1 from though?

Donatella · 28/06/2021 07:11

Have you got any supermarket loyalty cards? I used Boots points to buy a test once when I was late and broke.

covidcloser · 28/06/2021 07:13

Ask the guy you have been having unprotected sex with?

LaLaMelyn · 28/06/2021 07:23

I mean I do understand what it's like to be completely skint, I've been there, but I would have been able to borrow a quid from someone even when things were at their worst!

Ohdearyy · 28/06/2021 11:47

Thanks for all replies. No I don’t have any support and as for how I’m to afford food, this is just the reality for some people I genuinely don’t know.

I’ve called the sexual health clinic though and they’re going to post me one.

Chocolatebuttercream · 28/06/2021 11:50

Good luck OP. Sorry things are so tough for you. Do you have a food bank?

covidcloser · 28/06/2021 12:02

Again, what about the man you are having unprotected sex with?

choosername1234 · 28/06/2021 12:19

I work in an urgent care centre and we provide the morning after pill to women who need it. Our policy states that we must do a pregnancy test before giving the MAP. We then tell the women the (usually) negative result. Just an idea....

Don't all jump on to flame me, the OP is clearly in a desperate situation

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 28/06/2021 14:24

Hello everyone.

We've had a number of reports from people concerned about this thread so, as we usually do in these circs, we're putting our heads round the door with some important reminders.

Right now we can't see any evidence to indicate that the OP isn't above board – if we did, we'd remove the thread straight away. But the truth is that, sadly, we at MNHQ can't know with 100% certainty that any poster is genuine, no matter who they are or how long they have been here. As frustrating as it is, we're not able to vouch for anyone here.

So we always ask users to remember that not everyone on the internet is who they say they are – and remind folk not to give more to another poster, either financially (in cash or gifts) or emotionally (in time or care and support) than they'd be prepared to lose if things went wrong. We strongly advise against parting with any cash or giving away your personal details, and if you receive a PM which makes you uneasy - report it to us and we’ll take a look.

Sorry to hijack your thread briefly there, OP. Flowers

Good they're going to post you one, OP.

if it's positive and this isn't what you want, they should be able to help you quickly and easily with tablets, too, for a chemical TOP.
