What’s Ripon like for a day trip?

No kids tomorrow, just adults for the day!
Is it okay for a wander around? It’s one of those places we never quite get around to going to normally favouring York and Harrogate but we’ve not long visited them both so want to do something different.

Ripon’s lovely. Cathedral and workhouse museum. Some independent shops. You’ll miss the market though.

Ripon is pleasant.

(If I was in that area, I'd probably want to go to either Fountains Abbey/Studley Royal or the lovely gardens at Newby Hall more though)

Ripon also has a branch of Booth's, if you like nice supermarkets. The cathedral is well worth a visit, especially the crypt, if you can deal with narrow staircases and small rooms.

I should also add that parking prices are very reasonable.

Thanks for the responses. We’ll see where tomorrow takes us Grin.

Lovely cathedral. Some nice cafes and shops nearby. But generally small and you may find that you run out of things to do in the main square. Beautiful river walks. Or you can walk to Fountains Abbey across the fields from Clotherholme Road.
