My daughter went to a bookshop the other day on a school trip and bought one of her young adult books, The Island, and is really enjoying it. She is almost 13. I have now bought her the other young adult book for her birthday but was wondering whether her adult books would also be suitable for her? I was reading Stephen King and James Herbert by 11 so don't have a problem with her reading some adult content. If I had more time I'd buy one myself and have a read, and that's what I might end up doing anyway but it might also depend on which one I try out, might not give me a good view of her overall type of writing.

From what I understand each of her books could be read as a stand alone. So I was wondering if anyone had read a few of her books and could advise. Daughter is quite mature for her age and has watched all of Bones and quite a lot of CSI for context of things she knows about.

Thanks a lot for any advice! Smile

I've read some - I think they are more of an easier (trashy) read and don't remember them being particularly graphic in any particular area. You can read them as standalone, but I would recommend getting them in order as there are references to previous details (wouldn't spoil the book, or make anything difficult to understand, but shows a progression and reasoning behind some of the characters).
