Can anyone recommend a good podcast?

Just that really. Never got into podcasts - not really sure what they are, aren’t they just radio programmes on demand? Very worried, I might find them boring but I’d like to give it a try since I always see people talking about them.

So I’d love to listen to some really good ones I can get into that might be really enriching/informative/funny?

I need to exercise my brain!

If you like ( not sure that’s the right word…) serial killers, can highly recommend All Killa, No Filla.

Science ones are often good - try Crowd Science on BBC Sounds.

There’s a brilliant and bonkers one called Wind of Change about a theory the Scorpions song was written by the CIA, such a fascinating listen.

Teach me a Lesson with Greg James and Bella Mackie is very entertaining.

Making the Cut with Davina McCall and Michael Douglas v informative.

BikeRunSki · 26/06/2021 23:04

At least you didn’t - two friends reliving their most cringey moments.
Very funny. Both were radio presenters, they have the patter and delivery to tell the stories very well and are masters of self deprecation.

Finding Natasha, it's five short episodes and absolutely brilliantly done. It's a London podcasty bloke finding out about his mother's experience as a very young woman training as a ballet dancer in cold war Russia. Really great story and no endless dragging out of developments.

bonfireheart · 26/06/2021 23:10

Katherine Ryan's podcast is very good

I second Stuff You Should Know. Really interesting topics, the guys' voices are so relaxing, their friendship and humour shine... I love it.

thelegohooverer · 26/06/2021 23:15

I’m really enjoying the In Our Time series with Melvin Bragg. It’s quite intellectual and delves into a range of historical, literary, philosophical and scientific concepts. I finds it’s just the right balance of entertainment and challenge.

Dh listens to/watches Joe Rogan. I do like listening to the ufo/science ones that dh has watched on his YouTube channel.

Neil Oliver's Love Letter to Great Britain - fascinating self contained stories about our history. Good at bedtime as v gentle.

West Cork - real life murder mystery

Teachers Pet - Aussie murder

Fortunately with Fi and Jane - two clever wry midlife women chatting

The Northern Bank Job - real life crime

Joan and Jericha - laugh out loud, very non PC jokes
