Talk to me about Cyprus in may

Particularly the Larnaca area? I've only been in august and it was baking, great if you're by the pool but otherwise just so hot!
We'll be going end of may next time and wondering if anyone has been that time of year and what to expect weather wise ? I've looked online but it's nice to hear from real people and their experience

Lived near there for a couple of years. May, June and September best weatherwise... hot but not too hot. Sea a nice temperature. Not too hot on boat trips.

I use to have a house in coral bay we would go from April till end of June then back again from 1st September six weeks. The weather is really nice in May, it gets warmer and warmer every day, but sometimes can still get some rain. I hated July and August far to hot for me.

its lovely in may, mid to high 20s temp

I lived in Cyprus for 10 years- end of may/early June is amazing. Sunny and hot but usually not too hot and a different type of heat to august- fresh not humid. Pools can still be nippy at this time (but I'm a wimp). Rare that rain is still a factor. It's not peak season, which is shorter these days so not everything's open in resorts although still a decent all round selection but larnaca is less tourist reliant so more things open all year round. Might or might not be a bit chilly at night so long sleeves maybe needed

Sounds like it'll be nice in may then! Does anyone know about sea temps ? Obviously in august they were lovely but I'm guessing a little colder in may, but still swimmable? It's Protaras we're heading too so I'm hoping it's all open end of may

Sea was fine in May for Brits.

(My DDs favourite places were Waterworld and the Black Pearl boat BTW.)

The black pearl is the one that shoots the cannons isn't it ? Well pretend ones 😆

The pirate ship yes. I believe its a bigger boat now than it was when we lived there.

Sea will still be warming up after winter but definitely swimable - far more so that the pools (which some hardier people than I won't find too cold either). Protaras is very seasonal but should mostly all be open by then. A good selection at least. Ayia Napa down the road will certainly be as it's more year round and has the large fun fair and water park for dc and some really stunning beaches with good bus links from protaras - plus not too hot and crowded to be on bus at that time of year.

Fig Tree Bay was one of my favourite places to go of a weekend when we lived there. Can't believe the Black Pearl is still going.

If you want to hire a car and go further afield, they drive on the left in Cyprus. Although parking is crazy (aka abandoning your car wherever you feel like it) and driving standards variable. The motorway network isn't bad though.

cocoloco987 · 29/06/2021 06:51

If you have younger dc then better than the Black Pearl is the mermaid cruise which goes from Protaras . A much smaller boat and a shorter trip but dc get to swim with and get photos on deck with 'real live' mermaids who swim up to the boat from the rocks. There is a treasure hunt and mini disco and face painting (after the swim) too
