Veronica Guerin RIP

Twenty five years today.

Her mother Bernie was a life force and lived for another 18 years without her child, but she was never the same again.

I do remember hearing about her death but we are in the UK and there wasn't as much coverage here as there obviously was in Ireland. It's only very recently that I heard about the film they made with Cate Blanchett in the title role. . .which led me to reading up on VG.

A very brave person. We need people like this. They are few and far between obviously because what they do makes enemies of extremely nasty people.

Heartbreaking for her mother. And her husband. And the little boy who will have grown up without her.

I found out on teletext, my family sent me the papers, these days it would all over social media.

I only knew about her from watching the film some years ago. Proper courageous woman.

She was some woman for one woman. We paused last week at her memorial statue for a few moments and thought about her and her family, couldn’t believe it s been 25 years.
