Best nerf gun for early teen Who for the the first time wants to join in with his peers!

I have a wonderful 13 year old son about to turn 14.

He is deliciously quirky! Doesn’t give a hoot about being cool or keeping up with peers, and surprisingly given teens - is very popular despite this.

He is fiercely academic and a chess obsessive. Not at all interested in computer games. He likes to read. And... still enjoys going crazy on the trampoline.

A new craze amongst some of the boys at school has begun, old school nerf gun warfare in the woods at the back of our house. He wants to join in, which is... so unusual that I want to faciliatate ASAP! He never wants to join in, ever, so this is exciting.

Any recommendations? Happy to pay top price. I would love to surprise him next week with it.

I’d go for one with a barrel - sorry I don’t know the technical term! Lots of darts can be loaded at once so don’t need to re-load so quickly.

There is a brand called X-shot in Smyths that do tubs of 500 darts that are compatible with nerd guns and far cheaper.

I'd start with this and see how he gets on...if he enjoys it he will soon let you know which gun he wants. Buy a pack of darts too! If they are playing outside I prefer the laser gun version or you have to insist they collect every dart. If they don't small animals can eat them and choke
