What’s the process here- eBay- item not received

I sold an item. Buyer has said it wasn’t delivered. I checked and it says delivery was attempted, door not answered, item available for collection. Told buyer this and they say they have been to both post offices and they say they don’t have it. What happens now? Do I have to hunt down this item? Or does he?

That's weird you can go only go to the post office with a card they've put through the door re missed delivery

If they live in flats maybe someone else took it.

I personally think they're lying esp as there is proof of the delivery which covers your end.

Just let them sort it out with eBay as you are covered as there is proof from PO you sent it

Tell them the post office had or have the item which proves you sent it so they need to chase it with the PO or eBay

It's not your problem anymore as you clearly sent it

Apologise profusely but you can't refund it as the item may well get to them eventually and you sent it in good faith and fulfilled your end of the agreement

If you left a return address on the item it may come back to you

Sometimes items take a couple of days to get back to the sorting office. It may then hang around there or they may reattempt delivery. Ask your buyer if they're willing to try again in a couple of days.

The cards usually say items not collected will be returned to sender within a certain period, but it's a while 2-3 weeks. But if it's genuinely not at the sorting office and has disappeared into a Post Office ether, it's up to you to claim from them, as you have the contract with them.

From ebay's point of view, they'll expect you to refund the buyer and claim from the PO, but don't rush to do this, as if the item turns up, you may not get your refund, and the buyer may keep the item and get the refund.

Has he been to a post office or the sorting/collection office. I once had a buyer who went to three local post offices not realising the post office and the sorting/collection office were different things.

If he/she didn't receive the card you can go to the Royal Mail website and select to have it re-delivered to them yourself:

If Royal Mail have lost it you will soon find out.

If there is no proof of delivery then they will get a refund so it's in your interest to help out. Not their fault if Royal Mail didn't deliver and and didn't get a card.

He says he has been to local post office and the depot. He did get a card. He now has another card that he thinks might have been a redelivery attempt but says he won’t know until tomorrow. eBay is so not worth this shit.

I’ve offered to rearrange delivery for him if he lets me know when suits.
