Hello all,

I have been doing a fair bit of research but would really like to know your opinion on what parts of the immediate area (max 1 mile radius of Godalming train station) you consider unsafe or undesirable to live? We (mom, dad, baby boy) are looking at homes that are walkable to station and hopefully have access to good state schools. Would you consider all of this area generally safe and ideal? Thank you in advance

Are you looking at the new builds up by supervet? If so massively controversial builders... they've pissed off lots of people.

Where have you looked? It's quite different one mile either side. You're looking at ockford ridge or Busbridge or into town.

There aren't many state schools so look into catchments very carefully.

I mean… Godalming is all pretty safe, isn’t it? All the infant/junior schools are pretty good. I think pp is probably thinking about secondary schools but sounds like you are a long way off that!

For context, lived in Godalming from 12-25 and now live that side of Guildford and go to Godalming multiple times a week!

A lot of people struggled to get anything near for reception last year. It's all the new builds. So catchment areas are tiny now.

Loads of people I know got schools out of town. So it's not just secondary. Though the schools are all lovely. That's not the point. It's whether you can get in them!

Thank you all for your comments - helpful as always. We have not decided which area in particular, hence the question, really. Thank you for the feedback re schools - seems to be an issue almost everywhere. At the moment DC is in nursery so can only hope things will change/open up over time but for the moment we want to focus on a move into a family-friendly, safe environment.

I know this thread is a bit old now, but thank you for all the above info - we are looking at some new builds by super vet (Cala), are those the controversial ones? If so, what pissed people off, please? Would be good to know. thank you.
