Stairlifts - any recommendations?

Exciting topic I know, but in laws have decided quite sensibly that they need a stairlift. They have one set of stairs in the house and it's a straightforward normal staircase. They live in Cornwall if that makes a difference

Any companies to recommend or experiences to share? Ta

We went to the local shop that sells mobility aids. There was a stairlift set up in the showroom so we were able to look at it and how suitable the seat was. They were cheaper that the national companies (Stannah, Acorn, etc) and have serviced and repaired it without any problems.

That's a good tip, thanks

We did the same, actually built up quite the relationship with the local mobility centre.

They offered a reconditioned stair lift with the full maintenance support service. The service was expensive but reassuring to know that my mother could call them anytime.

Be warned!
My 90 year old father paid a certain well known stairlift company £6.800 at the beginning of the year. Sadly he passed on and the stairlift was barely used. The company who sold/fitted it would not buy it back at any price and neither would anyone else we tried to find, Eventually agreed to sell it on ebay to a couple of blokes who removed it and gave me £100. It seems to me that if a salesman has to visit your house..... you need to be very wary and especially old people who might easily be taken advantage of.. as I believe my father was.
