Worst ensuite ever?

Just happened across this in a property listing

The ensuite is separated just by glass, except for a door with giant holes in, and the toilet is directly behind the door facing the bed. Romantic!

Oh dear! 😱

EmmaGrundyForPM · 24/06/2021 16:47

I posted a property on here recently that didn't even have a wall, just had the bath loo and sink in the bedroom just by the bed. OK, I get that there's a trend for having baths in bedrooms but having the loo about 2 foot from the bed is just gross. And yet loads of people told me I was being snobby, and that there was nothing wrong with it Confused

Greenbks · 24/06/2021 16:47

Depends on who’s room it is. Not to my taste but If it’s a single person I don’t see an issue with the glass

Temp023 · 24/06/2021 16:49

The house to the back of us knocked into the en-suite. It now has the bath across the end of the bedroom and the toilet next to the bath on the other side from the bed. So you can lie in bed and chat to your loved one whilst he is having a poo. All very high spec but..

Blossomtoes · 24/06/2021 16:50

It would be pretty simple to sort out. I found the listing and at the price and with the amazing garden, I could deal with that.

Bells3032 · 24/06/2021 16:51

@Greenbks even as a single person. If yiu do something Smelly your whole bedroom reeks

IHaveBrilloHair · 24/06/2021 16:53

Ewwww, no.

Greenbks · 24/06/2021 16:53

@Bells3032 believe it or not- we’re not all built the same. Some ppl are totally ok with that.

IHaveBrilloHair · 24/06/2021 16:53

@Greenbks
I thinks that's more information that we needed.

Same with any en-suite, especially windowless ones.

Greenbks · 24/06/2021 16:56

@IHaveBrilloHair like this post isnt?

well clearly the person who lives there is ok with it- why are you assuming I am? Do you mostly assume everything in life too?

What is it with judgemental critical ppl.

Greenbks · 24/06/2021 16:57

@Blossomtoes good point. It’s awful and reeks and I hate a windowless en-suite or bathroom but hey it still exists

Take note @Bells3032

sotiredofthislonelylife · 24/06/2021 17:14

Just keep a box of matches in your en-suite. Smells immediately extinguished.

Hax · 24/06/2021 17:27

That's why I didn't put a toilet in my en-suite.
I've seen a few hotels that do something like this. Toilet in a tiny cupboard but shower and basin in the room!

Yes agreed, it’s an awesome house for the price (although that ensuite is only slightly more of a crime than the rope bannisters). It gives me the wiggins.

Oh, and it’s a 4 bed house so I doubt a single person lives there (maybe they do and they host events for niche swingers who really like toilets).

PattyPan · 24/06/2021 17:55

Bizarre. It’s about twice the size of bedroom 4 on the floor plan as well so they had plenty of space to build proper walls! The kitchen counters extending into the dining room is a bit odd too.

Comedycook · 24/06/2021 17:57

In my childhood home my bedroom had a shower in the corner...not a separate room, literally an ordinary room with a shower cubicle in the corner!

SinkGirl · 24/06/2021 18:56

I’ve seen that quite a lot, showers in the corner of a carpeted bedroom (bleugh).

I just don’t really get it - why put the door there at all?

There’s quite a lot about the house that is a bit odd but would make a good project (if it weren’t already over budget). A proper door and at least frosted glass would be the first thing!

I think the placement of this downstairs loo is much worse. Not for use during garden parties.

Pinuporc · 26/06/2021 15:07

I'm not an ensuite -hater in general (I even go for a 💩 in ours sometimes ....) but there has to be a proper wall and a door, and preferably a window.

I saw a property for sale recently that had an open plan ensuite ie no walls, just a bath basin and toilet in the bedroom....which I wouldnt like at all.

tappitytaptap · 26/06/2021 15:07

@UselessTrees I wonder if the garden is overlooked?! Looks like a loo in a conservatory!

Pinuporc · 26/06/2021 15:08

@UselessTrees ShockConfused

Pinuporc · 26/06/2021 15:10

@tappitytaptap

Well it would definitely be overlooked by the back bedroom in their own house and probably the neighbouts as its terrace!
