year 8 assessment - extra time for dyslexia

my DS is currently doing his y8 assessments and is dyslexic (also struggled with processing) and was at first he was offered extra time if needed but has now feel told by the school that they won't be offered this going forward. He's really benefited from the extra time and now I feel he's being put at a disadvantage because of this. I've spoken to his school and they've said it's because not all data is taken from the assessments but I still feel it's unfair.

If your child is in the same situation are they getting extra time? I just want to see what's the norm before going back to the school.

TIA

I would imagine the extra time was more for the processing than for the dyslexia.
In assessments they should have been doing something such as asking him to switch to a different colour after normal time. That way they can see to what extent the extra time is helping.
My DD with processing issues ended up with extra time for English but not others.
I'd definitely go back and ask for more information, and check he can be reassessed at the end of y9 if needed.
Then going forward ask your DS after every in class test whether he had enough time to finish.
