Dear all,
My lovely wonderful step mum has been having problems walking for some time. She has been seeing an osteopath as she fell and hurt her knee and back. She has had her hip and knee x rayed which showed some arthritis however it has been getting worse. She fell again last week. She paid for an urgent MRI on Monday and got the results yesterday. This is a brief part of the report:
At the inferior margin of the T11/T12 disc, there is a relatively large (approximately 1.5 cm) intra dual soft tissue mass, compression with displacement of the lower end of the spinal cord to the left. The mass shows a low signal on both T1 and T2 weighted sequences.
She has booked to see a neurologist who was recommended by the orthopaedic consultant on Monday.
Would anyone have an insight into what we are potentially facing. Believe it or not I am a nurse but it all goes out the window.
We are so devastated. She is only relatively young, both she and my dad are very active, walk for miles everyday usually. My dad has been through so much. We lost my sister during heart surgery and my lovely mum passed away also when she was young. It's hard not to feel - not again. Just love them both so much, can't tell you how devastated I feel for them both.
Any insight anyone can offer into these results, I would be so thankful.
Thank you xxx
