Recommendations for Windows operated laptop

We desperately need a new laptop as DH’s is at least 8 years old and moves at a snail’s pace! It’s painful. I have a chrome book which I love but I can’t use it for work as the software we use to plan lessons (teacher) is only available on Windows.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good every day laptop with a Windows operating system? I’d like a good battery life and for it to be fairly lightweight.

Do you have a budget in mind?

I've not long since bought THIS one, but it wasn't cheap. Battery life really good, it is lightweight and looks gorgeous, I love it.

@HilaryBriss

Ooo! I like the look of that.

In terms of budget, I don’t really know. I want to get a decent one so it will last and do the job properly but don’t want to have to take out a new mortgage for it. The one you sent would be very top of the budget I’d say.

I have the surface pro for work which has a detachable keyboard so you can use it as a tablet.

If you want to be mostly using the keyboard and a mouse then I wouldn't go for it as the keyboard is flimsier and there aren't many ports. But for flexibility and portability it's great.

I will be using the laptop for work but not at work. I have a desktop at work so this would just be for planning and resourcing at home. Portable would be good but only in terms of it not being too heavy.
