Weird ebay/paypal payment issue

I've won via an auction, and paid up via pay pal as I always do - transaction goes through ok and I get an e mail confirming from Pay Pal. Issue is almost immediately ebay account looks like the payment has not been made and payment is still outstanding.

I've checked in Pay Pal, and after going to messaging via a bot it tells me I have cancelled the transaction (I've not). Card payments details are up to date and valid.

Both ebay and Pay Pal impossible to get through to a real live human. It's a funny going on and I can't understand what to do. I have messaged seller to explain - but I only have until 26th to pay or the sale is cancelled.

The ONLY thing I can think of, and this is due to the Pay Pal payment email states ' You authorised payment blah blah...your money will be transferred when the seller processes your payment'. Could the seller be declining it or something (I have won the auction at a low price).

has this ever happened to anyone else?

I had this just before Christmas it was one of two things they told me (PayPal &eBay) either the seller has withdrawn the item having not been able to fulfill the order due to low stock/damage... eBay said it was down to PayPal to sort, and PayPal said it was down to eBay to sort. As it turns out it was the second of the two things the seller had a number of accounts, and they ran scams. It took me until March this year to get my money back. That was only because I managed somehow to bypass the overseas call centres and got through to a lovely young lady working from home. She issued a refund, and the money was back in my account 5 days later.

Isn't there something about eBay changing how sellers are paid? It's only very recent and I'm not sure of the details but if you Google PayPal and eBay there's loads of articles on it. Maybe one might be helpful?

Your best bet is to contact the seller & find out what they’ve been told. Get them to screenshot what they’ve been told (if anything) by ebay or PP.

I had to do this last week as a buyer of mine failed to believe me when I told her I’d not received her funds and wouldn’t for up to 6 days because Ebay now are rolling out the direct ‘pay directly into your bank account’ system and getting rid of Paypal.
I even sent her my wretched bank accounts (edited my account number etc for security) because she distrusted me so much)

Interestingly, Ebay now owns PP and PP are going to introduce charges for any accounts not used regularly Hmm Convenient, eh?!

Is it a large sum of money?

I sold something expensive and although the payer paid immediately PayPal didn't release the funds to me for like, three days. So at my end it looked like they hadn't paid yet. It was weird but it was a fairly large sum of money and I figured maybe they hold it for some reason.

Are they a new seller? I had a purchase where new seller couldn't work out how to connect their PayPal correctly to eBay and verify it, so the payment didn't go through.

eBay live chat thing can be quite helpful if you can't get them on the phone.

I ended up paying 3 times and when seller asked for 4th I just asked to cancel the transaction. Scam or no scam it shouldnt be this hard!
Im now watching PP like a hawk!

Sounds like the seller has the wrong email address, that is if they are not on managed payments. You should be able to cancel it at your end.
Either that or you've paid by cheque. It could also be that the payment hasn't gone through, check with your bank it has actually processed.
@BelterDelta eBay don't own PayPal. They separated years ago and now have gone completely separate ways hence why eBay has their own payment system now which is run by Adyen.
