How to get Ultrafast Fibre Wifi for 12 month contract instead of 18 months?

We are helping DD set up her new uni flat for the next year, for her and a few friends. She currently lives in the same apartment block and has normal fibre internet, which is constantly drops and is really slow when there are five of them streaming lectures at the same time.

Her block has ultrafast fibre for speeds of 140+mb (plus we would upgrade the router). As they are likely facing another year with a lot of time in their flat, we need to ensure she has really good internet.

A few providers offer Ultrafast Wifi packages, but they are all 18 month contracts. She has only signed the flat for 12 months.

Is there any way to negotiate a 12 month contract rather than 18 months? Do you think it might work to approach the internet provider we have (sky) and ask them?

Try the comparison at money saving expert - looks like Zen have a 12 month contract in some places

Sorry, pressed send too soon

And some suppliers doing a rolling contract with no minimum (though they're dearer than the minimum term contracts, it may be cheaper over a year than to pay a cancellation fee).
