Anyone know of any romantic holiday places in the north? My partner and I want to book a holiday for the summer.

Scotland is a big place!!!
What sort of thing do you like doing?

For walking - Keswick, the Trossachs etc
For nice towns/bars - York
For a fun city break - Liverpool/Manchester/ Glasgow
To really get off grid somewhere in the Cairngorms

Good luck finding anywhere with availability! Northumberland is lovely, Holy Island, Bamburgh etc.

I know a few but every single one is booked wall to wall all year.
One of my favourite places I booked in January and got the only 3 days free before November. I wanted a week.

Embleton, Northumberland - you can have lovely coast walks for lunch/dinner in Craster by Dunstanburgh Castle. Alternatively Low Newton by the Sea, although make sure you have parking as it's been a nightmare since it keeps winning best beach/ pub/brewery awards (see also Bamburgh......).

There's a lovely looking place called the Fishing Boat Inn in Boulmer - beach a bit low key but walkable to others but the Inn is right on the beach and the rooms look lovely.

I second what PP said about availability, though - most of the county seems fully booked for the summer.

Anywhere In the Lake District. Or bowland Forrest. Even Blackpool!

The Lord Crewe Arms in Blanchland.

Standrewsschool · 21/06/2021 19:56

Gretna Green!

Hellocatshome · 21/06/2021 20:05

Even Blackpool! I am not a holiday snob and have had a few family trips to Blackpool but one word that doesn't spring to mind is romantic!

The Inn at Whitewell in the Forest of Bowland. Can’t go wrong. Lovely walks nearby and fab places to visit.

I would do a city break in Manchester, Liverpool or Leeds. Lots of restaurants, parks, museums and galleries, bars - my kind of break.
