What's the most trivial thing you've been told you're doing "wrong"

Apparently not using the entire individual hotel mini tub of marmalade to cover 2 slices of toast is "weird".
I like toast with a SMALL amount of marmalade - this makes me odd it seems

Seemingly all the driving I do is wrong or dangerous.
But only in the last 3 years. My dh now tries to supervise me out of junctions, telling me when it is clear and saying "well done" when I have pulled out.
I have never had an accident, or a near miss, or indeed a far miss. I have been driving for 28 years and spent some of that time driving for a living.

RosieLemonade · 22/06/2021 06:56

Everything and anything according to DH including how to pull a chair up to a table and put tinfoil on a tray!

Oh god, DH is similar. Warns me to brake about 1/4 mile away, goes "jeeeeeeeez that was close" when I pull to a steady and slow stop with 6ft to spare. Complains I'm too fast, even under the limit etc

Guess which of us us has always had a clean license and never been in an accident where it was their fault... 🤔

Rhubarbfizzles · 22/06/2021 07:19

That I cut an orange wrong. Then I got a 15 minute long demonstration where the oranges looked exactly the same as I cut them at the end of it.Hmm.

This was at a club for children who were only going to half suck out the juice and bin it.

AlexCabot · 22/06/2021 07:20

I'm left handed so I've heard from many people the many ways I am wrong.

Not wrong, just different!

Kinsters · 22/06/2021 07:22

Folding the milk cartons wrong for the recycling 🤨

awesmum · 22/06/2021 07:26

According to my ex -
Clean a house
Talk
Walk (too loudly?)
Eat
Stand (it accentuates my stomach?)
Breathe- (I actually went to the dr he got me do paranoid about it)

LostThings · 22/06/2021 07:29

Brushing my teeth. Apparently I shouldn't do it with my mouth open.

bonbonours · 22/06/2021 07:29

@Jahebejrjr

Pegging out the washing.
Me too. DH does most of our washing and if I occasionally try to help hang it out he goes round behind me taking things off and putting them on differently....

Oh me too. Been driving 20 years with no accidents. DH rarely drives but always inhales sharply, shouts about brake lights ahead, warns me about people turning etc.
CeeceeBloomingdale · 22/06/2021 07:37

Not using the same colour pegs on each side of an item, I don't need to have two greens, I can do green and orange!

However I am always irritated when my DH cuts an onion for burgers and doesn't cut it so it makes rings. He cuts it in half and makes half rings.

I secretly seethe when people open crisp packets upside down too.

Novelusername · 22/06/2021 07:41

I was browsing in a high street clothing chain and got told off for handling the clothes on the rails too roughly by a male employee. I wasn't at all, he was being an abusive dickhead, so I complained.

NothingIsWrong · 22/06/2021 07:44

I cross my 7's. WRONG.

Dishwasher. If I load it it's wrong and DH will redo it. If I don't do it, I'm wrong for being lazy. Cannot win that one

Meal planning and cooking. Apparently he was bored of having all the same things and I needed to be more adventurous and cook interesting food. This was with 3 kids and a full time job. For the next month he had to plan and cook every meal because I point blank refused to pander to him. Now he plans and shops and we cook equally. I do quick family meals on my days and he fannies about with marinades and dressings on his days.

How the hell are you supposed to do it with your mouth closed?!?

I'd say the cooking thing was a win, well done!
steppemum · 22/06/2021 07:50

@BackforGood

Not me, but I was shocked to see someone I know open a two finger kit kat and take a bite across both fingers, rather than snapping it into two separate fingers and eating one then the other.

Obviously, I had to clutch my pearls tightly.

My dd does this to me just to wind me up, as I cringe when i see it.

She obvioulsy thinks it is hilarious, and I can't tell her off but well, it's a kitkat and who cares?
(I do,a lot, it seems Grin)

KeflavikAirport · 22/06/2021 07:52

I had the tin foil one too. It makes fuck all difference which way up you use it. If there was a right way it would say on the box.

Anyway, my ex told me I chopped tomatoes wrong. So I dumped him.

dancealittleclosertome · 22/06/2021 07:56

According to 13 year old dc, I eat too 'poshly'. Something about the way I open mouth before shovelling the food in.

tigger1001 · 22/06/2021 08:02

@Fuckingcrustybread

Watering thirsty drooping plants at lunchtime on a boiling hot day in midsummer - oh yes, lets wait another 6 hours by which time half of them will be dead. confused The cantankerous old git is right. Plants should never be watered when they're in full sun especially on a boiling hot day. The hot water will affect the roots. Water them before or after the sun is full on them.
Have to agree with this one!

And also if you get water on the leaves when in the sun the leaves can burn.

KeflavikAirport · 22/06/2021 08:03

I am 47, in a very senior job, and I still do 🐰 ear shoelaces.

LyndaSnellsSniff · 22/06/2021 08:07

Making a cup of tea
Ironing board placement
Spreading butter
Cutting an avocado
Scanning shopping at self checkout
Cooking sausages

Icequeen01 · 22/06/2021 08:13

@MrsJackRackham

My dad used to say I shopped wrong. Rather than start at the front at the fruit and veg I go to the last aisle and work my way back. That way the fruit and veg don't get squished at the bottom of the trolley. Makes perfect sense to me. Wrong apparently Blush
That's exactly what I do! I've really only started doing this since I started doing scan and shop and have to bag up my shopping as I go along.
BoysTownGang · 22/06/2021 08:19

I get ‘corrected’ whilst driving by my DP …. I even had the indicator put on for me the other day ( no traffic on the road at all )
I have been driving 37 years with a totally clean licence, no accidents.
I am not the one who had a driving ban…
I am not the one who has been driving for (only) 20 years…
And I am not the one whose interfering DF has been nicked for speeding 5 times - but still thinks women can’t drive…
😡

Bananalanacake · 22/06/2021 08:21

DH told me I was breathing wrong when pushing out our DD, I almost shouted "well you do it then".

BoysTownGang · 22/06/2021 08:23

YY to the butter softening/ spreading
He doesn’t bother softening it so the bread it all raggedy and ripped…
And there is only one ‘correct’ way to make a cup of tea… so he makes all the tea… Result!!☕️
