Did anyone see Joan Collins on Piers Morgans life stories last night?

Christ she is beautiful. And clever, witty and wise. And really sharp. At 88!

Amazing woman.

She trowels so much make up on she looks like Michael Jackson. And has some pretty dubious views.

That, combined with the odious PM, would be a no from me.

ssd · 21/06/2021 09:27

Blimey. Am just wondering, who do you like then?

@Hen2018. Correct

Fizbo · 21/06/2021 09:33

Didn't see it but have seen her in recent articles and agree she looks amazing but she has had a somewhat charmed life by her own admission. I'm sure she was quoted as saying she has never cleaned her own home and I have this vision of her floating around being fabulous but not doing half the stuff 'normal people' do which in turn makes us look our age. Good for her though 👏🏻

She's had hard times and trouble, like everyone else. She got date-raped when she was young, and felt so ashamed and horrified that she married her abuser. Another husband ripped her off financially. Her career stalled in the 70s, and she was told she was too old for acting - she had to fight to rebuild her career. And I seem to remember that her daughter was very seriously ill and nearly died.

Joan is a strong, determined and very witty woman. I think she's great!

SprayedWithDettol · 21/06/2021 09:53

She is a strong woman no doubt, but I wouldn’t want to cross her!

I'm with Hen2018

misscockerspaniel · 21/06/2021 11:11

She took on the patriarchy and is an out-and-out feminist.

I agree with you ssd

She is a bit fabulous but, no - I didn't watch it because Piers Morgan is absolutely loathsome.

peaches99 · 21/06/2021 14:04

Oh I think she is amazing, yes I know she wears a lot of makeup, and wigs I believe, but I would be very happy to look like her at 88.
She is also witty and wise, but no, I wouldn’t like to cross her Grin

FrogFairy · 21/06/2021 14:46

I had to chuckle at her comment when PS came out as gay. Something along the lines of why did he need to come out? We already know he is gay, we have all known for years.

PaperMonster · 21/06/2021 15:57

I used to work with someone who went to school with her - she said Joan’s age hadn’t kept up with hers! But she remembered her as great fun!

Notonthestairs · 21/06/2021 16:10

I've always thought Joan and Jackie were interesting characters. They both put the hours in to their careers and didn't stop when societal expectations expected them to. I doubt being an actress during the periods she was working was straightforward.

I don't judge women on how much make up they wear - or if they wear any at all.

ssd · 21/06/2021 16:47

Me neither. But i do judge posters who say she puts her make up on with a trowel @Hen2018
