Ageism or banter?

Was a busy day at work today.( hospitality)
The young guy ( 28) who was leading the shift, said he thought I was too old to be working now!
I'm 47 and absolutely fuming.

That's out of order.

Wanker. Fume away. Tell him it was inappropriate next time you see him too.

How very rude. As someone older than you that would've pissed me off. I hope you told him he was out of order?

Would he have said that to a male colleague? No, he wouldn't. So sexist as well as ageist. What a twat.

I would have agreed and asked him to bring me a chair so I could sit and supervise him whilst on my shift.
