Weeing behind a bush in the park

To be clear up front; I am neither the person weeing nor the person complaining . Just seen this on a local FB page and thought MN might like to debate this one.

Local park, where there are toilets but not predictable if/when they will be open.

Busy local FB page, someone posted along the lines of 'if you were the woman weeing behind a bush in xxx park today when my children might have seen you with your trousers down, I hope you are ashamed of yourself'

Very mixed responses.... before I share them (or my personal thoughts), what do you think?

Greyhound I had a stoma three weeks ago due to the regularity of shitting myself in parks, supermarkets, at home, the car. Humiliating, exhausting. Try a little empathy.

Sandsnake · 20/06/2021 21:58

Bet the person who put it on Facebook is an absolute dick.

TwoPupsAndaHamster · 20/06/2021 22:08

She’s not the first person to pee in a bush. She won’t be the last.

IamnotSethRogan · 20/06/2021 22:08

It's actually pretty ignorant saying adults should get themselves to a bush. Some people have medical conditions, or she could have just been really desperate. Sounds like she tried.to hide behind a bush. I can't see why someone would create an issue over.this.

superram · 20/06/2021 22:18

It want me today but it has been me about 3 times over lockdown. The public toilets were closed. I’d like to be out more than 2 hours. No one saw my bum, I took my tissue home. I feel no shame.

MaMelon · 20/06/2021 22:22

Shock, horror - woman goes into the bushes to pee Hmm I’m sure the kids who saw her won’t be too traumatised.

When MIL had just given birth to SIL she was out pram pushing and got caught short. She nipped behind some bushes and was happily peeing away when a double decker went by - much to her horror and the amusement of everyone on the top deck Grin

I couldn't agree more. Unlike MN, they are not anonymous!

Pretty mean minded to wee-shame someone who already probably felt uncomfortable, when men piss all over the place.

What’s the big deal if children see someone having a wee? To me that is less of a concern than urine all over the place where children play.

But then again it is wet and rainy at present.

To be honest I am less bothered about a woman needing a quick wee behind a bush than the constant cat shit that is deposited on my lawn on a daily basis.

camelfinger · 20/06/2021 22:38

It’s only a wee, who cares. There’s dog shit all over the place anyway, now that is offensive.

Mymapuddlington · 20/06/2021 22:40

A wild wee is sometimes a necessity but at the local park I would assume they’d be cafes/shops/home nearby?

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 20/06/2021 22:41

I would have offered her a wet wipe I think! Poor woman. No one choose to pee in a bush of alternative is an option.

Post birthing injuries and a completely wrecked pelvic floor and urinary urgency, the pee-er has my empathy

Sunshinesusan60 · 20/06/2021 22:41

I would judge the woman who tried to shame someone on Facebook more than I'd judge the person weeing in a bush.

As someone who suffers from IBS I can totally sympathise with the panic and distress of being caught short somewhere with no toilets. It's horrendous. It's not always possible to just hold on.

Very few people would piss in a bush for fun or out of laziness.

Nodal · 20/06/2021 22:43

I think it's fine out in the woods and I do it all the time, especially on long walks. I wouldn't judge.

UpTheJunktion · 20/06/2021 22:45

P.S and I would never humiliate someone in such a judgey way on local Facebook.

Especially not a woman, given the havoc that pg and childbirth can play on bladder control. The lack of time when you are trying to wrangle small kids out of the house to the park to nip to the loo yourself, the prevalence of cystitis etc.

What a horrible unsisterly thing to post.

Why don’t people just shut up
And mind their own business?

They might have expected the toilet in the park to be open.nearest cafe/shop with a toilet at least 10 mins away which is a long way of you are desperate. The park is often part of a much longer walk around the area, so she could have been quite a long way from home.

Yeah it has backfired as most people came out in support of the weeing woman, and the person complaining has therefore named and shamed themselves.

UrbanRambler · 20/06/2021 22:48

It wouldn't bother me, I'd just assume she had been caught unawares and couldn't wait, I'd pretend I hadn't noticed and walk on. In fact, that's exactly what I do if I see a bloke doing the same thing. It's just pee, if people get caught short and try to be discreet then I see no issue with it.

TheWaif · 20/06/2021 22:53

I was eating a sandwich in my car in Tesco carpark the other day, and a women let her son piss 1 foot from my window just onto the concrete. There was a line of trees and undergrowth literally two foot away.

IWantT0BreakFree · 20/06/2021 22:55

Was it you, op? You've no idea whether it was an "emergency" or not, have you?

Neither do you. You have absolutely no idea the circumstances of the woman, and yet you've decided that "adults should be able to get themselves to the toilet without resorting to bushes in a public park".

Your take seems to be that this woman just decided to stay in the park for ages until she was desperate for the toilet, then casually had a wee in the bush without a care in the world. Most of us have an awareness that there are many, many conditions that affect women's ability to control the frequency and urgency with which they need to urinate, and it's clear that there are dozens of far more likely reasons for weeing behind a bush in public than simply choosing to do it for fun. Lots and lots of posters have given examples of conditions and birth injuries that have left them experiencing life-changing incontinence issues. Have some empathy and use your noggin.

ForkedIt · 20/06/2021 23:04

Grin at the thought of a child being scarred for life because they’ve seen someone having a piss.
My (almost) 2 year old is obsessed with all things toilet at the moment and loves nothing more than watching me go for a wee - I should stress I don’t love it and try to put her somewhere else whilst I wee; it’s actually pretty disconcerting having someone crouch next to you in anticipation of your urination.
I’d be more worried my child would go over to cheer if she saw someone doing a bush wee.

MgW1 · 20/06/2021 23:38

Id feel sorry for the poor woman and then posting it on fb .... thats awful x

mrsbyers · 20/06/2021 23:48

Susannahmoody · 21/06/2021 02:23

Totally normal. Stupid fbook post though. What did she expect, someone owning up?

Susannahmoody · 21/06/2021 02:24

Mymapuddlington · 21/06/2021 02:47

Ok knowing more about the park instead of imagining our tiny village I’m in full support of WWW (wild weeing woman)
