Help me find a way to see in the dark!

Recently started a new carer job and I spend 7/8 hours a night in the dark, I'd like to be able to see without turning on any lights/torches ideally!
Need to see well enough to fill in paperwork...

Carrots!

Wilko do a stick on light that just sort of glows. We got one for my grandma's landing so she can see the top of the stairs. Was about £3 and been going years!

Eat lots and lots of carrots

www.wilko.com/en-uk/wilko-led-pir-sensor-light/p/0441032 something like this

HollowTalk · 20/06/2021 17:11

Why do you have to stay in the dark?

ohisay · 20/06/2021 17:12

Maybe my mum has been lying to me my whole life, but wouldn't it cause eye strain to have too little light? How about a reading light with adjustable brightness, I have one that clips to books and it's quite good for not bothering others at night.

This is a health and safety issue so is up to your employer to fix

I used to have a light up pen for writing in the dark, it was so fab, then some bugger at work pinched it.

AdaColeman · 20/06/2021 17:18

You need to work on your super power infra red vision.

How did the person doing the job before you manage? Are you sitting in complete darkness? If so hope you can stay awake!

HollowTalk · 20/06/2021 23:53

Oh I see. A Kindle PaperWhite is what you need or, if they can cope with the light, a Kindle Fire where you log into your local library and borrow a ton of books. And a head torch for going to the loo!

If you need to complete paper work, you need to be able to see it properly to reduce the risk of mistakes and avoid eye strain. A head torch might be the most practical solution. They're not expensive - start under a tenner.

You probably want one with adjustable brightness or just a basic one, be aware that some are very bright because they're designed for running in pitch darkness so you don't trip over roots or fall into streams and blinding potential attackers.

For entertaining yourself, a kindle paperwhite would be perfect, or obviously phone or tablet but on a low brightness setting.

Or no chance of being able to complete your paperwork electronically on a tablet?

TurtleBay28 · 21/06/2021 07:35

What about one of those reading lights that clip on to a book/paper work?

Heartofglass12345 · 21/06/2021 10:48

Do you have to sit so close? How will you know if anything is wrong if you can't see them? How will you stay awake? So many questions haha
