I am waiting for a new bank card. I have £100 cash on me.

How long do you think that will last?

Can’t you use you banks app to withdraw cash without a card? NatWest do ot, it transfer to someone’s bank and ask them to take it out. £100 would last me a week probably

Frownette · 20/06/2021 09:32

@Ivy48 of course I can always call into branch, I was genuinely curious about how many days I would go on £100!

Bank card should be through Tuesday anyway. But I don't want to touch my bank balance.

Ah I see! £100 would get me through the week with basics like the food shop and petrol but not much extra. If I wasn’t WFH I’d struggle

BarbaraofSeville · 20/06/2021 10:16

Is that the only card you have? You need to get another one to stop situations like this being an issue.

As well as lost or stolen cards, banks have problems leaving people unable to access their accounts.

If you opened a Starling account today, you'd have your new spare card by about Wednesday or Thursday and then you can just move money about by internet banking and you'll never be stuck again.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 20/06/2021 10:17

Depends, do you have kids and do you need to do a food shop? I'm gonna be spending £100 today on a food shop for the week and DS's hobby.

Frownette · 20/06/2021 10:22

No I just have my bank card and cc. I don't want any others.

I don't have masses to spend on as any dd would go out automatically and I bought a few things but that would go out directly. I wanted some bets on how long the £100 cash would last me!

Do you have a full fridge / petrol tank? If so I’m going for 6 days!

MummytoCSJH · 20/06/2021 10:27

That would last me maybe 2 weeks now as I've just done a full food shop but if I hadn't it'd be gone in a few daysGrin I never carry cash. It feels strange spending it nowadays, I only ever get it for the window cleaner and keep the change for the ice cream van!

Frownette · 20/06/2021 10:31

Yay some good bets! I'm hoping a week

For me it could last weeks depending on my weekend plans. All food shopping and direct debits go out of our joint account. Working from home means I can easily go Monday - Friday without spending anything.
However, if I had a brunch with friends planned for the Saturday, that £100 could be gone in an afternoon

Ninkanink · 20/06/2021 10:33

Have you got staple foods in?

It’s very difficult to place bets without knowing relevant information...

If I had £100 in my bag right now, for example, I would be able to make it last at least a month.

TheChosenTwo · 20/06/2021 10:35

This week in cash that would last me until maybe Tuesday. £25 for dds bus pass on a Monday, £50 for the cleaner also on Monday and £20 in a birthday card (aswell as the birthday card!) tomorrow for my neighbours dd! Would maybe have £2 left. So my guess is maybe you could make it last 3 days if you don’t have the same expenses as me Grin

myfuckingfreezer · 20/06/2021 10:39

How on earth can we make bets without knowing how many people you're providing for, if you have food in etc!

For me, that could last a month if needed but I'd be grumpy!

amylou8 · 20/06/2021 10:41

The only thing I use my card for is food and diesel. If my card went, and all the bills were still going out my bank on DD then £100 cash would last 2 weeks.

roobicoobi · 20/06/2021 10:47

It depends what you need Confused
