Maternity Pay

Hi, I’ve just recently changed my job/employer but my partner and I have discussed are ready to try for another baby. How long do I have to be employed for before I am eligible for maternity pay? I’ve read some bits online but some of the information is quite conflicting.

Thanks

To get SMP you need to have worked for your employer for 26 weeks by the time you are 25 weeks pregnant I.e. you need to already be employed before getting pregnant.

Enhanced maternity pay (if offered) may have different eligibility rules.

As long as you are not yet pg you should be eligible for smp. Not all employers enhance the basic of 6 weeks at 90% , based on actual earnings in the qualifying weeks, and 33 weeks @ £130 ish.
